French election

Recommended Posts

Seems to be the first round of the French Parliamentary election today, judging by the number of people trudging down the road and back. Should be a simple shoe in for Macron's party.

Will be interesting to see if they get many 50% plus results on this first round. And how many abstainers there.

Meanwhile Macron soldiers on with his modifications to the Code de Travail which he is gonna pass by decree, probably during the summer months whilst the comrades are sunning themselves on the world's beaches, in large part at the taxpayer's expense.

It cold be an interesting September.

EuroTrash - [:D] - I have to laugh or I would feel like crying . What a shambles.

Macron had to create his new party - I wonder which other parties they come from? The only one I know of was Bruno LeMaire as Economy minister - he's from the Right.

He has quite a few 'new to politics' people which is refreshing and has largely excluded the old names, except for our Bruno who is quite young and something of an opportunist who may see himself as a future President.

Macron originated in the Socialist party but not the now thoroughly depressed and discredited left of the left who made life very difficult for Hollande. With any luck their crossing of the desert will be long and hard with enough sustenance to kill them off.

Sat here and all is quiet on this western front of Europe.

There is no disorder outside, no sirens and just numbties on the tv, and that is real life. The supermarkets were stocked yesterday and I daresay will be today.

We had a problem during the winter as due to spannish floods, there were few courgettes and iceberg lettuces, but actually, I rather think that we can manage without those if push came to shove.

Tearing itself apart is rather severe.

And France, yes, will be very interested in the results today. Will people be  brave enough to vote for the butcher, baker and candlestick maker as french news has been showing these new people to be, simply living ordinary lives. Or will they want some of the old guard in place, just to keep an eye on Macron, who, by the sounds of friends and my son, is considered at the moment to be doing a decent job.

Absolutely, ET.

I read of a woman candidate who is a mother of young children, who is in a job (not anything like banker) whose husband is in a job (also nothing to do with banking) but who was at Sciences Po like Macron.

She is unknown in her local community but lives there and works there.  She is articulate and intelligent and is finding her feet in politics.  What's not to like?

Ah but it is politics and for all she has gone down this route, joining Macron's party, who really knows what this particular woman's views are.

Let us wait and see how it goes, see if the french people are finding Macron a leur gout.

In fact more than 50% which is actually surprising, if not shocking.

So the few that voted were for Macron.

In the second part of the election, surely people will get their sorry backsides to the polling stations. I hope so.
