woolybanana
Well, should they or should they not not complain, these incomers into rural France?https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/sep/03/if-it-quacks-like-a-duck-boisterous-poultry-land-french-owner-in-court
Alan Zoff
A nuisance is a nuisance but it emphasises the need to do your research before choosing a new place to live.An area known for its ducks, and where the prospective new neighbours have an established flock, could have been taken into account before purchasing. What I find more of a problem is when a neighbour suddenly acquires a dog that barks incessantly without, it seems, bothering its owner in the slightest. NormanH
Not only in France. A friend of mine who farms in the Blackdowns has neighbours who have complained about the noise of his tractor as he starts it up in the morning, and the fact his cattle sometimes block the road as they go in for milking... idun
Hasn't this always been the case, in most places. We knew people in France who moved far from the madding crowd to have a bird farm opposite with lots of guinea fowl. Drove them mad.Croft Circuit in the North East, people moved there and complained about the noise of the cars or bikes during training and competition. And then there is Newcastle and Teesside Airports, both with lots of new housing in the vicinity and I am just waiting for the complaints of aircraft noise to roll in.It is just people they make their choice and live with it or move on.
