HELP AGAIN PLEASE FROM PP CHRIS OR ANYONE

Recommended Posts

I have several varieties of Ipomea in the garden. Today after a heavy rainfall we have discovered the plants are invested with caterpillars all about 3" long with a horned tail.  Some are bright green with yellow zig zags and red spots, some are green with a yellow back, dark red spots and orange horn with a black tip, and others are black with two orange lines along the back, all are about the thickness of a ring finger.

All these caterpillars are, as far as I can ascertain, feasting on the Morning Glory.

I have looked at Planet Passion and other sites and the nearest I can get is some sort of Hawk Moth but no photos exactly match. Unfortunately my batteries have just died on the camera so I cannot provide a photo myself.

Any ideas !
