SaligoBay Posted January 11, 2004 Share Posted January 11, 2004 My son loves cornichons, the ones in jars in vinegar (it's one of the few things he does eat!).We were in the UK for Christmas and bought cornichons in Safeway, assuming (I know, I know) they'd be the same. But beurk! They weren't in just vinegar, they were in a mixture of water, sugar, and vinegar. Double beurk.Why the difference in such a simple thing, I wonder? I have a feeling the nasty sugary ones were Polish or something so perhaps they do something different with them there other than to serve up with charcuterie. It was one of the things I always brought back from France before we lived here. I also keep a jar of the giant Russian recipe ones in the fridge for when we have beefburgers and you can also buy them in Gant already sliced.
