tina Posted November 18, 2009 Share Posted November 18, 2009 I'm really motivated to learn how to cook proper French food but I haven't yet found a French cookbook that I really like. I'm not into fancy cooking, but I like good quality simple meals. I know that most French food has some form of meat in it, but it would be great if I could find some vegetarian recipes, since I don't eat any type of meat or fish. Any ideas? The only French vegetarian recipe book I have is the 'Marabout chef recettes végétariennes'. Very nice, but it's a translation of 'Vegie Food' originally published in Australia. The Marabout one was a gift, the photography is very nice; porn for foodies and it's all matt coated so feels nice to hold. I haven't made any of the recipes though. That's a nice blog, Clair. I dip into another of your recommendations, Chocolate & Zucchini, from time to time. Some really good recipes I will have to try. The blog also looks great. I also need to be see a cookbook before I buy it- either I'm attracted to it or not, and I can only know that by physically holding it in my hands and flipping through it! Fay Posted November 19, 2009 Share Posted November 19, 2009 Way back when I edited a bunch of French veggie cookbooks with a wonderful elderly French Master Chef called Jean Conil, for a publisher that used to specialize in vegetarian cooking. Long out of print but you can still find copies of them on sites like Abebooks. Search on Jean Conil - bless him, a man ahead of him time. (BTW I have no financial interest in this!)
