Golden syrup - French equivalent

 I always do scones with a thé a l'anglais too.

Been using the Women's Institute recipe recently.  8oz Self raising flour, 2oz of butter, 1 beaten egg 3 to 4 tablespoons of milk and 1 oz of sugar. Add dry fruit or cherries as you please. Bake at 210°c. Usual rub in the butter and add the dry ingredients and fruit and add egg and milk.

They have been delicious.

Yikes, noooooooo, no cheating!

The 2 ladies who are coming are expert bakers themselves.

I thought I'd bake Patf's honey cake (which needs keeping for a week) but I couldn't find any suitable alternative to the orange juice.  No oranges here as they are not yet in season.

But, I baked some muffins with a banana and chopped walnuts and flavoured with rum.  Don't know what they taste like but they sure look and smell mighty good.....as you Americans might say, Mr McDollar!
