Amethyst
My husband's b-day is coming up and he expressed an interest in reading about what went on in our area (44, 49, etc). Any recommendations?Amethyst
Kitty
Where is 44 or 49?One of most referred to WWII books on my shelf is: The Penguin Atlas of D-Day and Normandy Landings by John Mann. I find it a very useful reference book - but then, I like maps...
Patf
Can you read french? If so there are sure to be books in your local newsagents written about WW2 in your area.Or see if there's a library and try there.I obtained books from both sources here in the Gers about the Resistance etc. There is still research going on here by the Gers Historical and Archeological Society. Do you have an equivalent?.
Amethyst
44 and 49 are in the Pays de la Loire. No, afraid he doesn't read French well enough to enjoy a French book. Thanks,Amethyst

Very interesting expecially if you live in the general area.As an aside, we went to the Gabaudet site (one of Das Reich's visitations) a couple of weeks ago. A lonely and rather sad place.
