i have an old xt 250 and only use for off road use. i have been wondering if it would be easy enough to put on the road here.anyone have any idea ?

i have lights and a horn, but no indicators and a non standard can.

is it the same test centre as it is for cars ?

thanks, steve

If you want to put the XT on the road, then you'll have a bit of work to do.

You'll need to get it type approved for France so that you can register it here.  If your model was ever imported into France, the manufacturer's French head office should be able to issue you with a type approval attestation.  If not, then it'd require a single vehicle approval inspection by the DRIRE.  Note that any type approval certification is on the basis of the bike as it originally left the factory, so to comply, you'd need to make sure it has indicators, etc, as per the original factory specification. Using a non type approved motorcycle in France is a big no-no - prison sentence and a whopping fine.

In France, all motor vehicles (including bikes) must have continuous civil liability insurance even if they are being kept off the road.
