Are you sure you want mineral oil?  If food contact is likely then wouldn't a vegetable based product be better?

Mineral oil does not turn rancid  -  and is entirely edible, as many of us who have been children will remember.

As stated by Gengulphus, the French name is Huile Minérale, also it can be used to get you going, if you know what I mean[:)]

Ah... liquid paraffin then?  My understanding of the term mineral oil was the sort of stuff I used to buy at Halfords under the name Duckhams or Castrol.

Seriously though, the chaps who hang about in the Working with Wood section might have some better suggestions for you.  Ask what they would use for a wooden salad bowl or a goblet, I have honestly never heard of liquid paraffin being recommended before.
