So many are shown on t.v here , but actually finding the details so we know where to visit is proving very difficult. We will be in the area around St. Lo in 3 weeks time and if anyone can suggest a flea market or attic sale in this area it would be great. we were very fortunate that when we visited the Loire area a few years ago our hosts recommended a Apple festival that included an attic sale, needless to say we spent a very enjoyable morning browsing the stalls and sampling the local and freshly squezed apple juice. Although you will find some fairs are advertised in both, there are also some differences.In Aladin the fairs are given different gradings, 1, 2 or 3....3 are fleamarkets or lower grade foires, officially grade 1 is Salons, but from experience all the categories are wide [;-)]There is also a little magazine called Le Chineur and in addition some regions publish a little booklet listing them, you may find these at antique shops, depot vente etc.Local paper on a Friday is often a good source of info too.Hope that helps. betoulle Posted May 22, 2006 Share Posted May 22, 2006 There is a big brocante in Marsac in the Charente the 1st weekend in September - same weekend as the Braderie in Lille. We went to Lille for many years, but found it got too busy & too expensive. Marsac has approx 900 traders with something for everyone at really good prices.......has a great atmosphere too - takes a whole day to get round the numerous fields & copses where people pitch their stalls.
