Alan Zoff
The factory team cars were faster, but I used to love the privately-entered RS2000s. It was all about smoothness through the corners and that glorious sound, from a car still not too different from one you would drive to work. Indeed, a work colleague's only car was rallyed through forests whenever possible but still had to transport his long-suffering wife and kids at other times. I bought his fastastic Marchal spot-lamps when it had been rolled once too often. Blow me if he didn't buy them back a couple of years later when he persuaded his good lady to let him start again (with a Simca Rallye).
Sunday Driver
I remember watching Michelle Mouton destroying Audi quatros through the Forest of Dean, if it needed to be downshifted for a bend, it was downshifted regardless of the speed or rpm of the engine. She shot the biggest flames from the tailpipe [:)]
I had a French girlfriend who looked like Michelle Mouton. She drove her old Renault 8 around Paris with the same level of mechanical sympathy.....[:-))]
just john
telegraph. formulaonediary/ -Abu-Dhabi-grand-prix Alonso draws alongside the blameless Petrov and starts waving his fist – the very definition of gracelessness."I can't begrudge Seb anything," Webber says. "He's driven well and deserves his success."That's how defeat should be handled.
