tj
HiHave a small problem with a wood burner, it is rather ancient and there are a few small holes in the fire chamber walls, which this year are obviously somewhat bigger and produce an unacceptable level of fumes into our hallway.Question, is there a product that could be used to fill the holes, an epoxy maybe, that can stand the heat, rather than having to go to the trouble of having it welded?your comments appreciated
woolybanana
Is it cheaper and safer to chuck it and get new?
LesFlamands
If the flue is drawing adequately then holes in the firebox should only cause air leaks into the stove making it less easy to control at a low burn rate. Fumes coming back into the room indicate that the flue is not working properly.
retread
No matter what the state of your flue, the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning/serious fire etc demands that you take the only sensible route and change the poele. What price your life?
