Decking vs Tiles

I have just got a new in ground pool with a liner and don't know whether to put decking or tiles around it. I would prefer decking but I dont know if it is slippy when wet.

I have a client who used decking in his courtyard area - after 18 months it was slippery as hell.

Tiles in my opinion.

I'd go for tiles every time. My stepson has wooden decking and it's a death trap.

Or perhaps he's trying to tell me something.

also the treated  timber decking will contaminate the pool water causing you to use more chemicals

The only timber I would recommend for around a pool is untreated

hardwood - I prefer IPE, its  expensive but it will last and will

not harm water quality in the pool.

Do not under any circumstances use the green treated pine for terracing

around a pool - it will eventually make everyone who uses the pool very

sick.

I have heard of some very serious reactions to what I suspect is a buildup of these poisons getting into the water.

Its not worth the small saving to buy the cheap timber as once your health is compromised, you will regret the choice.
