Cyanuric Acid-In search of?

I am trying to get hold of some cyanuric acid, every pool shop I have visited just wants to sell me liquid ph minus, of which cyanuric acid is often a small component.

But what I cannot find is the stuff itself.

I have an auto ph regulation system and I make my own ph minus liquid with hydrochloric acid and water 25% to 75% water.

Many thanks.

Just buy some chlorine choc tablets (dichlor or trichlor) from your local supermarket, they all make it as they are dissolved in water.

Most people have the problem of too much cyanuric acid, about 30 to 40 ppm is fine, any more locks in the chlorine.

Sorry for leaving the question unanswered Jim

I think that you already have a tub of chlor Choc and as david correctly pointed out at least 1 part out of 3 is cyanuric acid.

So if your low than add a little choc pastilles (in the skimmer box) -

in your pool say 1 kg to raise the level 30ppm - do not overdose

however 50ppm is your top.

Call me if you have a problem

Andrew

  • 2 weeks later...

Andrew and David,

Sorry for the delay as I have been in the UK for a week, but thanks for your replies.

I have now managed to find Cyanuric Acid on its own, but it is known in France as "Stabilasant" or similar.
