Arriving in France in August 2001 without healthcover, not knowing that the form E111 was of use to us. We contacted Newcastle one year later for the form E120 (I think) which covered 80% until January 2004. A company from Bordeaux contacted us to ask if we would consider their top up insurance I did not realise that the attestation de droits form had run out! So we were told by lassurance maladie that as we had a gite we should contact the chambre of commerce immediately. The forms arrived within days and we duly paid our fees to the C.O.C. We do not speak fluent French so did not fully understand all the forms. They gave us a choice of three assurance companies, we chose m.m.a. because they were in Niort. Within days we had received from the Greffe du Tribunal 6 duplicate copies of a titulaire de limmatriculation with a siret no.
We have filled our tax forms in under the micro business and pay no tax. The following day we have received a la retraite complementaire. Not sure on this one?
Question being are we insured? Do we contact m.m.a. or do they contact us? If so, is it for the top up insurance or what? We are in our 40s.
