Telephone Preference Service in France?

Recommended Posts

I am getting a bit fed up at "cold calls" trying to sell me stuff.

Does anyone know if something like the "Telephone Preference Service" exists in France?

For those who don't know what it is ;

If you wish to register your wish not to receive direct marketing calls, we recommend that you register your telephone number with the Telephone
Preference Service, at the following address:

Telephone Preference Service
DMA House
70 Margaret Street
London Web:
www.tpsonline.org.uk <http://www.tpsonline.org.uk>
W1W 8SS TPS Registration line: 0845 070 0707

Yes, its called Liste Orange and you can find details (and sign up online) here:

There's also Liste Rouge, worth considering because a lot of marketing companies just get your details from the directory

I just went looking at the FT website following those links, am I correct in saying that the Red list is like being ex-directory but that also there is no way that the emergency services can access your information from your number as well? if so that sounds a bit extreme.

The Orange list sounds a bit less radical and rather nearer to what Crevette was asking for, or have I got it wrong?

I get a few "cold calls". I have pretty limited French language skills, so I use them as language practice. What is amazing is that even once they have found how badly and how little I speak French they continue trying to explain what they are trying to sell. They don’t give up early but continue on trying to explain what they want to sell, etc. I’m sure that reversed situations in the UK (i.e. to somebody that spoke very little English), the caller would give up very quickly.
