No apparent reason, screen goes black on me HELP!!!!!

Over the past two weeks on occasions, whilst I am on line, for no apparent reason the screen goes black on me and then I am told to hit any letter to see if it comes back on. or use the " Enter key ". Nothing happens and then up comes a warning that the computer has an unauthorised close down error and I have to wait for it to come back on and check my facilities.  Any idea's for this strange happenings

I've no idea why this should be happening, but (assuming you are using Windows) you may be able to find some more information on the error by looking in the event viewer (in control panel, administrative tools) in either the Application or System logs. 

Check anything with a red (error) message or a yellow (warning) message for the last couple of weeks.

Also, are you running a firewall, do you have Spybot and Hijack-This installed, do you have virus protection?

Sounds like a virus to me, cant say ive ever seen that one before - goes black and told to press a key ? whos telling you to press a key, the screen?

used to get the blue screen years ago with win98.

Best use a virus checker.
