50 metre lead to TV

Recommended Posts

I dislike dishes so have hidden the dish on the North tower of my chateau - problem is the distance of the lead from TV to dish is over 50 metres and the TV says it is getting no signal. It is a Sky box thingy.

Is 50 metres too long - should I watch the TV closer?

50 metres is almost certainly too long. Assuming you set up the dish with a short length of Co Ax and the digibox and TV close by and you had a signal then if you loose the signal when you install a long length of Co Ax then you have the culprit.

You can use an amplifier close to the dish - link below (no connection other than a satified customer)

normally, for such a long lead, to avoid signal loss you need to use either a very high grade, low loss cable, or you can get hold of a signal boosting device
to help keep the quality of the signal to a good standard.
