Tillergirl
Do any of you know of a wildlife rescue centre in the Pas de Calais region, as I have found an injured Hedgehog that will need more expert care than I can give it ?
Christine Animal
This is the only hedgehog place I've heard of, but it's not your areaLe sanctuaire des hérissons Anne et Patrick 7 rue de la noye 80440 Fouencamps Tel :O3.22.O9.21.O3 ou O6.18.28.37.48 ou O6.83.77.15.68 et www.herisson.nom.frLes spécialistes du sauvetage des hérissons blessés ou malades : soins, accueil et conseils en tous genres.Maybe Chrispp can advise you, but it would be better to post it under Wildlife so that he sees it. Christine Animal
That's marvellous of them. How far are they from you?
Tillergirl
I can't remember the kilometers but it was roughly a 3 1/2 round trip. They are lovely people there and it turns out his leg is fine but his has an internal injury at the top which is why he wasn't putting wieght on his leg. Possibly bleeding due to ingesting a small amout of rat poison. So he will now be on anti poison medicine for the next 15 days and also a more thorough examination. They are positive though as he has been eating drinking and has good motions. As I don't work currently I have agreed to be a foster mum to any orphans (so long as they have no injury then i would take them along to their centre) that turn up in the area, as at this time of year they gets lots of call regarding orphans and they have no-one in Pas de Calais to help until now. Tillergirl
Ernie was seen by the vet and had an opperation on thursday as he was in pain[:(] . We knew he had an internal injury but were not sure as the the full extent. The wall of his stomach has been damaged by the poison but thankfully not enough for it to be irrepareable. Now we now the full problem he can be treated properly and should be able in time to be release back into the wild. The Sanctuary are doing a wonderful job and this is the first time they have come across a hedgehog which has been sufficiently damaged by rat poison to break the stomach wall but without it being fatal, so Ernie is one special and lucky hedgehog.[:D]I would post a picture only I don't know how to at the moment.
