Do I need a CT to register a car under four years old?

Hi

I am fairly sure this question will have been covered somewhere but I have had a look and it is not coming up.

I have a two year old UK registered Renault and wish to register the car here. I am familiar with the process but am unsure whether I need to get a CT done for the metriculation. As the car is under four years old will the authorities be require proof of the headlamps being changed and if so I intend to change the headlamps myself so will not be able to provide a facture for the work only proof of purchase for the new LHD headlamps.

Any thoughts?

We're just going through the same process but ours is over four years so needs a CT. The prefecture are not interested in headlights, only in all the other paperwork they require.

For registration purposes , you need to provide a CT certificate only if your car is over 4 years old.

For info: it's immatriculation, not metriculation.

I suppose it must depend on which department you are in , but ours did want proof the headlamps had been changed also that the fog light was on the correct side.

I got our local garage to change the headlights and get the CT and asked him about the fog light and reversing light being on opposite sides and he said he'd never heard of a vehicle failing the CT because of this. As you say, it may be a Departmental thing.

Today, I've just registered my 2 year old Vauxhall Vectra in Marne Dept. - it was a 100% paperwork excercise, nobody mentioned headlights or anything else. They did relieve me of 294 euros, however!
