TAX D'HABITATION - The "can't pay two times" rule...

Recommended Posts

We may be signing a new contract to rent a flat just before Christmas (apparantly rents have come down by up to 10% in Paris so a good time to look - the rent we are looking at is actually 40% cheaper than what we currently pay).

The only thing I am a bit concerned about is being the tennat of two properties on the 1st Jan and threfore paying two lot of tax dh'abitation!

A colleague mentioned that there is a law that means that you only pay once but she didn't know any of the details (pay in the new apartment only, the old only, the most expensive only?).

Does anyone have any information about this?

Best Regards,

Don't you pay for where you are ACTUALLY living on the 1st of January?  I only have ever payed for where we lived on that date, never for the other houses.

Mind you, the people renting them paid.  I would possibly have to pay if they where un-occupied as they are mine and habitable.

Barrel of snakes....don't you just love it here?[:D]
