Oboulez Posted September 22, 2015 Share Posted September 22, 2015 I exchanged my UK licence a few years ago, and when I received my French one, I noted that the C & D categories had much reduced expiry dates - expiring next month. This did not appear much of a problem at the time, as I did not envisage driving many 7.5 tonners - however it appears that this might now be a little inconvenient. The expiry dates on the UK licence was years away (I am only in my early 50's). Can anybody shed any light on the reduced validity and offer any suggestions? Thanks. AnOther Posted September 22, 2015 Share Posted September 22, 2015 Your French licence gave you the same groups as a French person would have which is essentially group B which is private cars with trailers up to a maximum train weight of 3500kg.Because you exchanged a UK licence initially you will have been given limited validity for your UK groups above that but if you want to retain those rights beyond that then you have to undergo the requisite medicals.I'm not sure here but I think if you let them expire you may have to undergo an additional test to get them back.The expiry dates on your UK licence are completely irrelevant.
