EuroStar
I am considering relocating to France and looking into keeping Charolais cattle. What do I have to do to set up as a farmer in France?I would like to know a bit more about the breed. I know that they are beef cattle.
woolybanana (ex tag)
Tastless rubbish their meat. Farmers have been selling huge quantities to the East and in a few years they will be selling it back at half the price.

The Riff-Raff Element
Too true. Parthenaise is a far taster proposition. The breed has a website (presumably not built by the cows themselves) - http://www.parthenaise.fr/The annual contest to find the prettiest parthenaise cow in France is held on the first weekend in September in the Vendeen town of L'Hermenault, which might be worth a visit if you are serious about rearing cattle in France. There's even a big BBQ at lunchtime where you can get to taste those cows that came second...
Rob Roy
There's also the Limousin breed. Beautiful beef cattle, and they run the calves in the fields with their mothers to produce lovely veal.
Frederick
L'Hermenault cow roast weekend it is for me then ! .....I am yet to find a decent steak.... grilled ....that you have not to go into jaw strenthening training to eat yet ! No wonder the French use so many pressure cookers.....I have tried all sorts of places for decent grilling beef ....they just dont seem to hang it long enough ....
