friend of stouby Posted January 5, 2006 Share Posted January 5, 2006 Dumb question #79Does anyone have experience or knowledge of what happens if you use a Ballon Rechauffage Mixte (hot water cylinder with a heat exchanging coil) without connecting up the coil system?We want to install the cylinder and use it only with the immersion heater system for the first 6 months and when at a later date we have the boiler installed, connect into the coil section then.Regards, Jamie Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The secondary indirect coil that you'll be using when you plumb in the boiler should be completely independent, and as Michael suggests, if it does leak, then it will prove that your cylinder isn't as indirect as it should be. powerdesal Posted January 7, 2006 Share Posted January 7, 2006 Just a small point which may be obvious anyway, make sure the indirectcoil connections are not blanked off as the air inside will expand whenthe heater is in use on electric, if that expansion cannot be releasedthe coil could split.
