Dusty walls

I have an old village house with solid rubble filled stone walls, inheritantly damp with a constant leaching of salts and plaster/paint residues. I would be interested also to determine best way to treat walls, strip render, re-render, leave stone exposed etc? I am against cladding them as this will enevitably not improve matters.

Maybe there is a specialist plaster/render that is more breathable?

So does this chaux go straight on to the inside brick walls. And take the shape of the bricks.not straight as in traditional plastered walls. What makes it stick??Is there a method? Does this then look like the old welsh cottage kind of look? When its done do you need any special paint or can you use normal paint.Sorry soooooo many questions

We are going to lime render one of our interior walls in the spring, with the help of a friend who has done this a lot before (and to fantastic effect, I might add).  Once we've done it, I'll know more..  I'm sure somebody will post soon, but meanwhile, you could try putting Chaux in the search box, it's been discussed before.
