New boiler

My 15 year old inherited Protherm has given up the ghost.  Am having a new one fitted, anyone know the French for 'condensing boiler' plus any advice in terms of what to ask for?  I have a 3 story stone house, about 180 m2 living, 10 iron radiators & 2 'seche serviettes' to heat, plus the water tank so am thinking about 30Kw?  Thanks ... JP

Measure the actual physical room sizes (Volume). Estimate the heat losses: measure the window sizes; how is the overall insulation?

30Kw seems rather small: for an area of your size, you would probably need a System Boiler: bear in mind, condensing boilers only achieve their claimed energy savings when running at maximum and when running: the usual system hysteresis (Start-Stop: Start-Stop) won't work for a condensing boiler.

In installation this is normally overcome by specifying smaller radiators, so that the boiler tends to operate constantly.

For hot water install a Ballon, running on cheap night (e.g.) rate. Far cheaper than gas or oil.

OK - Thanks for that, will ask our man about a ballon.  Insulation is not great - we seem to have cheap'ish double glazing, wooden frames in an old'ish house & stone construction - its beocming apparent, after moving in in Mar, that the previous owner did everything on the cheap.
