  1. It's all very simple......I want to stick the thermometer in the river to test it's temperature (obviously) and I want to know the barometric pressure (not by sticking it in the river, cos there's no need) cos I want to know the pressure innit? This is all in the name of fishing. I understand I can catch more fish when the pressure is high and the temperature is low enough (for trout).
  2. Hmmm.... I need one that I can stick in the river here (I want to track it's temperature throughout the year) and I don't see one where I can do this. Perhaps I just have to get an ordinary thermometer which can be stuck anywhere (arf!) and a seperate barometer. I've tried a medical digital theremometer but the range is very small (as in dead to high fever!), so no good for water that gets down to almost freezing!
  3. Many thanks, I didn't realise they'd be so easy to find!
  4. Do any of you know where I might be able to buy a digital barometer and thermometer, combined if possible? Thanks
  5. Do you mean next september as in 2007? and how long is 'long term'?
  6. Thank you Christine [:)] and Noizette: yes that'll be my next step.
  7. I've emailed the Maison des Artistes several times now over the last week or so and not had a reply. I should just persevere I suppose.
  8. Spain eh? I never thought of that. I'll look into it, thanks.
  9. Hi all, has anyone bought or hired any scaffolding in France. Places that hire scaffolding seem very thin on the ground here (64) so I was thinking of biting the bullet and buying some. Has anyone any suggestions?
  10. Thank you, we're not going down the Gites de France route but we don't want to put people off either. I think we'll play it by ear for the first few months.
  11. We will be opening our second house as a gite next year and I was thinking about not getting it connected to a phone line especially as so many people now have mobiles. Does anyone think it's really necessary?
  12. Thank you Noizette. I expect an english version does not exist, so could someone tell me how I actually go about 'signing' to the maison d'artistes? Thank you.
  13. I'm hoping to do the same thing asap so any help would be very gratefully received.
  14. If you've got a website but can't find out where your hits are coming from, you've got a crap host.
  15. We did, but it wasn't really necessary (in hindsight). We did it to reassure ourselves that we weren't buying a pile of rubble-to-be as it was very cheap and therefore the survey was a small price to pay for peace of mind, as we weren't living in France then. We have bought another property since and didn't even dream of having a survey done.
  16. Merci Cassis :) In fact the paperwork only asks for a sketch, so I assume it can be quite crude as long as it's obvious what's what. They were very pleased I'd added copies of the plan cadastral (one large scale, one smaller of the whole village.)
  17. I also have OSX and a Livebox but unless you have an airport card in the laptop it won't work with the supplied wireless transmitter.
  18. Hello, we're doing exactly what you're doing and yes, you need drawings and some photographs. I have taken lots from several angles but I have done the drawings myself (on the computer). I was told the drawings (with measurements) were fine.
  19. Thanks, but I've already done what you describe and that's the very reason I'm looking for a french one ideally.
  20. Here's what I was looking at (although at 11000 euros, maybe not!) http://annonces.flat4ever.com/detail.php?siteid=18944 I love aircooled buses and want to buy a french one (without going through the rigmarole of re-registering it here, hence the question). And thanks for the reply.
  21. I understand the vehicle I'm looking for (on the web) is imported from the USA, but does this mean it's already registered here?
  22. Hello Rebekah, I've got a question! Does the first page made in Dreamweaver have to be named 'index' for it to be the first page to be seen? What I mean is, when I've uploaded my site to my server, is there another name I can call the first page and it still be the first one on the site when live? I don't want it's address to be something like ...www.stuff.com/somepage.html... I still want it to be just the domain name (does that make sense?).  :)
  23. Thanks, all the ones in Lapeyre seem to be for placing inside the wall surrounding a window. I need something that will bolt onto the front of a wooden door over the glass panes. Cassis - do you mean you can make them up as long as you can weld?
  24. Does anyone know whether you can buy metal security window or door grilles off the shelf or are they only made to measure?
