  1. Thank you Postie, but unfortunatly as Hairdressing/Beauty is a restricted profession ( belive it or not !) I do have to produce/ send off My diplomas as you cant practice hairdressing in France without them so hence why I'm hoping that if I can go in person with the said paper work they can help me through the registration
  2. Sorry folk! Does any one know if I were to go to the chambre des metiers they would help me register as AE as my enterprise would be a Hairstylist/beautician and I know I will need to produce diplomas etc. and therefore a little more complicated. Thank you

  5. Well, we've been here since 2003 with 2 kids aged 13 & 9 at the time, renovating/building like mad, we are as intergrated as English people ever are. The kids are now ok, with wars wounds of the French schooling system, its not the kids settling in with French friends you should worry about but the viscious nasty and only in it for their pensions teachers that are the main concern as well as a totally inflexible system. Retraining! Please do not consider this as an option as some one has already said the educational system is not set up for people to change track later in life at all, my friends are absolutly astonished with my work history and cannot belive that yes I am fully qualified in everything that I've done, because in England you can do it. Earning a living here is very difficult, with a flooded market of English builders especially in the rural areas so picking up bits that way won't work. I would very much go along with Panda for the cost of living for a family with 2 children and that would give you a very base lifestyle and trying to earn self employed is very hard especially in Rural areas. with a low income self employed that will give you nothing much when you retire either and that is something very important to consider. I know this is negative and for that I am truly sorry, but we are at the sharp end and not supported on pensions of any description and it is very hard to raise a family like this. My advice is to rent your house out in the UK come with savings, rent here and have the adventure like that. Your Children will learn another language and be enriched by the experiance with no long term damage, you will have had the break from the UK that you need, this way you can test properly the life you think you may have here. Remember it is always a Rat race just the same rat different race.

  7. I am thinking of adding Aromatherapy massages etc to my Hairdressing business can anyone tell me if it is possible for me to go to a lycee here to study this? thank you
  8. We have a large vechile that has a 90 ltre tank it was indeed empty but at .95cents a litre someone with an equel size vehicle also empty would have had to pass immediatly after us at 9.00pm  and not only that the amount showed on the reading was 40.11 and  the reciept matches nothing adds up, it was at a higher banking level that this error was made I too was a bank manager and it defies me how this can happen. I never have been that relgious in keeping every till reciept to check against my statements but have a mental note of what is where at all time but there in recent months have been more times that I've have been unpleasently suprised and have thought it must be me BUT maybe not?

  10. Hi due to an e-mail address change my name has changed " artiste formaly known as Lilly" nice to be back , for me anyway! Just a little note to warn you, I had a situation recently that was a little alarming, alors I filled my car up with gazole at a patrol station and paid via the machine with my card i fortunatly took a reciept also, following morning I check by phone my balance ( I new it was very nearly empty!) to find it was totally empty as there had been a deduction of €131.00 not the 40.11 that I had spent. Bit of a long story but the ticket said 40.11 but the charge to my account was 131.00 After a bit of investigasion I had to cancel my card and wait 7 days for the funds to be released to my account, no one knows if this was an outside thing or a mistake by the stores banking system, but I would not have known that this amount was wrong unless I had checked my bank as my account was so low, and it made me think of all the other times I've had a shock at the level of my account as I was expecting more as I usually keep a pretty acurate level but have put it down to a miss calculation on my part as the figures have all come from known shops etc what do you think of that?
