    Nemotoeds?

I have just applied 50,000,000 to my lawn !  Hopefully I can report back positively when the beetles don't appear next May !  At £20 it's a lot cheaper than a new lawn Sue
  2. Hello all,   I was asked to feed back on the B&B recommended earlier in the post, so am doing just that ! We had an excellent stay, the house is very old, beautifully furnished and breakfasts are good.  However we arrived on a Monday evening and everything - yes, everything is closed in the little town.  I know Monday's can be iffy for eating, but you can usually find something !!!  However, Tournus is only 9k away and although most of that was closed too, we did manage to spot about 4 restaurants which were open and we were very adequately fed. So thanks for the recommendation, we would definitely stay here again and can report back positively. For anyone wanting a stay near Montelimar - overnight or otherwise, we can warmly recommend www.lemasdesabeilles.com Wonderful house and hosts, gorgeous rooms, breakfasts to die for and about the same price as the B&B above. Sue
  3. like a Birmingham front parlour ........and when was the last time you saw one of those ??!!!   Sue

  6. Bubbles, I've e-mailed you.  I can't post it as some of it's password protected, but happy to give details to individuals. Best wishes, Sue
  7. Oh flipping heck, what a div I am.  Sorry, it should have said anywhere between Beaune and Macon.  We'll be on the motorway coming from Troyes and heading for Ales.  Somewhere nice and winey would be good ! I hate this 'getting old' lark !!! Sue
  8. Rose, if you are going to search the internet for health related issues go here www.library.nhs.uk You can use the search box just like Google, but it will only retrieve good quality evidence based information.  You can pm me if you want a guide how to use it !!! Sue
  9. Hello all, Can somone with a vacancy in their B&B offer us a stopover as we go south on 23rd August ?  Please pm me, I'd be very grateful.   Sue

I'm going to have to use these microscopic little creatures to remove chafer beetles from my lawn later this summer.  They will eat the beetle larvae but not cause a problem for pets etc and can remain safely in the earth.  It's either that or a new lawn ! Sue
  15. I really feel for all of you caught up in the storm.  Having been in Ales in 2002 I know how frightening it is.  Very best wishes. Sue
  16. Thanks Cluzo and Sweets,   The OH has been on t'internet and has come up with a card (in French) to show to restaurant staff, outlining what can't be eaten, which seems a good idea to me as long as the staff know what goes into the food !  I'm encouraged by your replies re sauces etc and our friend knows exactly what to avoid in the UK - and what he can eat - lots of steak and chips as you say !  I don't think we will have too much of a problem, we have the language and they have the knowledge !  I would just hate anything untoward to happen on their first trip to France !! I'll let you know how we get on in due course.   Sue
  17. Hello all,   I have had a quick look at gluten on the site and it mostly seems to be about gluten free diets for those staying at CdH etc.  My query is that the OH and I are bringing a couple of frieinds over to France in June, one of whom suffers from Coeliac disease and is on a gluten free diet.  They are happy to bring their own bread and I guess we'll mostly be eating at home, but this does seem to limit the enjoyment of being in France.  Does anyone have any experience of having to be gluten free and eating out in France ? Hopefully..... Sue
  18. French carol sung by very English choir !!! The Carols from Kings included 'Il est ne le divin enfant' in this year's 9 lessons and carols, very pleasing for me as it was our 'French' carol at school and I knew all the words - even after over 40 years ! Sue
  19. There's nothing quite like sipping your port and nibbling the stilton for hours and hours while you put the world to rights, though, is there ?  I couldn't do that with pud.  Once you've had your pud in France - meal over.
  20. Does anybody like andouillettes ?
  21. We are going over the same weekend and are heading to Troyes for our Champagne.  The centre of Troyes has been renovated beautifully and is well worth a visit.
  22. ...yeah, but apart from that, What did the Ramones do for us ????.........
