  1. We have been with France Telecom for our telephone line on the Residence Secondaire scheme and Internet a la carte with Orange for nearly 2 years now.  To stop the service we ring the English Helpline and ask them to 'Suspend the telephone line' and 'downgrade the internet to dial up (which is free anyway). We pay approx. 5 euros each time.  To re-start we ask them to 'unsuspend the telephone line' and 'upgrade the internet connection to internet a la carte'.  If you are ringing France English Service from England we use Skype on the following number +33800364775 which ends up being a free call.

  5. Hi We have had the same problems we leave our receiver (Grundig) in France and go there once every 6-7 weeks each time we find missing channels and the receiver keeps switching off. We have found by forcing the reciver to do a software update this fix's the problem this is usually done by removing the power to the receiver holding in the backup button power back up keeping the button pressed until either a message saying software update appears or all the lights come on the receiver at which point release the button and wait until the update has downloaded anything upto 25mins this proceeder may be different on other sky boxes. The current EPG software version is 3.3a.6. Hope this is of some use.
  6. Hi We experienced similar noises and found they were squirrels.  They did sound as though they were walking around with hob nail boots and clawing at the wooden ceiling.  We found that when the bedroom light was on it got worse and appeared that the light was attracting them to claw more.  Luckily for us we managed to find their access hole to the roof and blocked it up.  We also bought ultrasonic pest deterrents (approx cost £14.00) from Maplin which emit an ultrasonic sound which is inaudible to human ears.  These appear to keep rodent size animals (up to cat size) away from the house.  I have been assured these do not cause any harmful affects to the offending animals.
  7. Hi I don't know if you have sorted out the coverage problem but I had the same problem. I got round this by obtaining a car mobile phone holder and connecting the ariel cable connection to a low lost cable about 12m long and a external magnetic mount ariel similar to the one's you stick on the top of cars. I stuck this to a metal pole on the side of the house and it solved all my problems. The second hand car unit and ariel cost approx £30.00, obviously it depends upon which mobile phone you have my phone is a Nokia 6310i I also coupled up a low voltage transformer suitable for the above and it keeps the phone charged up while it sits in the car holder. Hope this is of some use
