1.
Anything over the SMIC? Seriously there are people here bleeding to death because their income in Sterling has gone down 200-400 euros a month..and you are bleating about an one time over payment of 173 euros
Surely the possible loss of income due to exchange variations is a risk people should be aware of before they leave Blighty.
2. Ron is correct that Caisse d'Epargne is in trouble but CA has also lost nearly $7 billion due to the sub-prime crisis. It is however one of the Eurobanks that has now agreed to start lending to each other.
3. Just opened an account with Barclays in Saintes and was told the same thing. We were given several suggestions of how to remember it though!
4. No timescale has been mentioned but as Ryanair have already used Rochefort recently (2007) it won't take too long for it to happen.
5. Thanks for the replies. I'll try and briefly outline the problem to perhaps get more expansive answers. Three years ago two attached properties shared the same fosse as they were originally one large house. When the bigger of the two was sold in 2006 access to the fosse for the smaller house was cut-off as the fosse sat on the land belonging to the larger property. This meant that the smaller property now had no waste disposal facility whatsoever. It's completely land-locked so the current owner cannot install her own fosse. What is more sad is that she is terminally-ill and because of the fosse problem cannot sell and it seems as if the property is now worthless. Any suggestions much appreciated.
6. I have a simple question and are hoping for a yes or no answer. Is it possible for neighbouring properties to share a fosse?
7. I think it depends on your tip. Ours will accept commercial vans without charging but everything has to be sorted correctly and they frown on you going every day.
8. My 17 year old daughter works Saturdays and holidays in a local cafe. She has an employment contract with the owner and can only work twenty hours per week. She is paid the minimum wage less the usual deductions.
9. We used the P4 car park at Bordeaux last month - 120 euros for 24 days. Regular shuttle bus to and from the departure building. Very good point about the bridge - always get caught there when shopping at Ikea!   Tim
10. Having looked in a few estate agents windows this week 50k will only buy you a complete wreck. Is this the sort of thing you're looking for?   Tim
