1.
You sound worse than Norman!
You have never heard me sing!
 2. I ask the questions others are afraid to. I was sure it was an advertisement.
 3. Yes, you will need to purchase the lead from the BT socket to the rj45 on the back of the phone, only pennies or you might find one on an old handset.
 4. Brilliant, just like one of the long speeches in yes minister.
 5. When 4 eminent politicians lie so convincingly that it skews a vote and the remainers failed to actually put together any kind of document on what would actually happen then it's hardly surprising people are peeved. The number of old voters who have died since the referendum and the number of younger voters who are now eligible to vote could seriously alter the outcome of a 2nd referendum. I would personally accept the result of a second referendum either direction based on a factual document of the most likely outcome of leaving or remaining. The Tresemme plan on the other hand was specifically designed by Barnier that only a complete idiot would vote for it, enter Tresemme!
 6.
OK, hands up: of those who have been involved in a car accident where, arguably, the other party was at fault, how many have received any communication from the other party after the event to check on their wellbeing? If not, how many of you were surprised? And how many of you were paid by the Daily Mirror to express this in print?
Absolutely Betty, it could be seen as an admission of fault. News papers eh, never ever done anything wrong. I blame the reader for buying the rubbish.
 7. I had someone pull out of a side turning on me on Sunday. I shouted " who do you think you are, the bloody Duke of Edinburgh"
 8.
I agree that it was very fortunate, but I am still surprised that a Kia could overturn a Land Rover, unless the LR has a very high CofG,
Well it does have a bit of a high CofG but car fronts are made to protect pedestrians so not to hit them square on they push them up and onto the bonnet hence they can also submarine other objects. One old boy I knew hit a 60mm box section steel constructed garage door and totaled the door completely, pushed it back 18". Expected to find all the fluids on the road but just a slightly misplaced bumper we clipped back in!  Damn good some of those Korean cars!
 9.
Apparently, he lived near Toulouse. You can see the 'authorities' in the future banning HISTORY because it is not PC.
[:D]
 10. Where was Viscount Althorp?
 11.
Wood is an option but the UK is already announcing restrictions on wood burning stoves and sale of fire wood so I expect that it will be an issue in France in the future too!
To be fair about time too. If some companies can produce stoves approaching high 80% efficiencies with lower particulate levels then so can the rest. Serves to drive technology forward.
 12. I second the Viessmann, definitely would not use Worcester Bosch, yes the old ones were ok, better made but despite their popularity in the UK (mainly incentives offered to plumber for part of the "recommendation") however the new ones are not well made, cut corners on everything. I would not have one! No knowledge of De deitrich so can't comment
 13. There is one of those tricolour hedges up the road. Should I go for typical French! For sure I will be looking much more closely. Maybe beech and Photinia combo?
 14. Fair point Gardengirl, It was a concern that nigh on 100m of red would look too much. Problem is if i use something different to break it up It may look worse!  I will have to look at more google images for ideas [I]
 15. I would like to thank everyone for their suggestions, for someone who doesn't know their azalea from their elbow gardenwise, it's been very helpful. [:)]
 16.
I bought ours from Planfor https://www.planfor.fr/ I believe I bought "kits" of 13 plants per metre of hedge, 40-50 cm high.
The nursery suggested about 1m apart, allowing for future growth? Thanks for the link, looking at it now.  Ahh 13 plants per 10metre of hedging.
 17.
I hate photinias.
Hate is a strong word, may I ask why?
 18. Anyone know suppliers of Photinia's (red robin) in France preferably the centre? Need around 250-300 plants.
 19.
Here it is https://www.hedgesdirect.co.uk/acatalog/oleaster-elaeagnus-x-ebbingei.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkpTB2I3p3wIVArTtCh0mGACGEAAYASAAEgKInvD_BwE In French you would ask for "ell-ay-an-yewss" !
Unfortunately that is one that O/H doesn't like. Off to the nursery to take a close look. So far it's the Photinia as the popular favourite.
 20.
Absolutely NOOOOO to bamboo! Have you thought of eleagnus ebingii?
Thought of it, I never heard of it! [:D] Thanks for the suggestion though, I will now go and google it.
 21. Oh I don't know, not that bad, it symbolises how those lord and master also got their greedy heads chopped off! Now the mansions have fallen into the hands of the peasants.
 22.
As a softy who hates anything with thorns, I am a big fan of beech for hedges. Kept trimmed, it makes a good strong boundary with year-round colour. Birds seem to like it, too. I am gradually replacing miles of leylandii with beech and wish I had done so years ago.
Looks like a good suggestion to Alan, right up to the point I checked the price! Really would like some seasonal colour variation to. Found a garden centre near me so will go and take a look but with around 300m to do I can vary the ideas.
 23.
What do you need the hedge to do? Over the years I’ve cleared a huge amount of brambles and rough hedging and have replaced it where necessary in different ways. Along the longest side there was no need to do anything as once the brambles were cleared a low stone wall was exposed which is a great addition to the garden. Between my garden and my neighbour’s I constructed a post and rail fence using good quality wood and the final part has been allowed to grow into a wild hawthorn hedge as that provides the level of security that location needs. Bamboo is a menace and should be avoided all all costs, unless it’s dead and being used for privacy.
Long term I shall rebuild the fallen garden walls but I want natural screening but with a bit of colour and hopefully helping the natural order.  Put up so much fencing in my life for work but may well need this along one side. Hoping to plant was first thought.
 24.
Bamboo
Not a chance in hell! roots run riot BIL has a bamboo forest, not at all what I want but thanks for the input.
