1. Any other alternatives? Or are you all happy paying a bit over from your pensions?
2. Is anyone with Mint energie? Mint you should be.
3. No sign of someone with a borescope camera who could actually locate the problem? Thats why Management companies and insurers used my services, non destructive track and trace. Still let the Neanderthals play a bit longer.
4. Of course we couldn't run the place without them.
5. Yes it can, and the but, its very clean burning and no lubrication like fossil fuels so would require a lubricant for all the upper cylinder parts, similar to LPG vehicles that got through some engines quite quickly. There is of course the issue of using all the electricity to make the hydrogen and then feeding a less than efficient ICE ( internal combustion engine) compared to a highly efficient electric motor that has far fewer parts to service or fail from cambelts to clutch thousands of redundant parts and barely any maintenance required with an EV. I would have got a Kia eNiro by now but they didnt make many and they were as rare as rocking horse do do. Now I have to wait a while and there are some pretty exciting models coming this year!
6.
Hydrogen can be made using electricity from aeoliennes so minimal cost. Charging points can refill points and can be installed next to existing service stations, though not every one. Technology exists and is in use.
All true but its not very efficient as the amount of electricity used would power many more EV cars. Really small amount of users. No home charging, tanks are bulky and its still coverted into electricity to power the motors.
7. I reckon you are wrong! Some companies already testing solid state batteries. There will be improvements thats just natural, I bet there were a load of silly old men sitting around with their horses and carts when the first automobiles came out and saying never take over from my horse. Hydrogen requires more energy to make than you get out of it so will always be an issue and only for specialist vehicles or long range. Charging at home for the majority of journeys is so convenient not to mention low cost.
8. An update: VW group made a big announcement, their new battery technology will be in cars during 2023 with the expectation that the battery cost will be halved! Keep your old banger for now?
9. By the end of 2021 then, cost of batteries on the comparison you are using is still dropping rapidly, to the point the industry has reassessed the market.
10. Ah blessed are those who wait for surely the next generation of batteries will indeed be better. Great news also, no geaboxes in EV's! They are all automatics so to speak.
11. Wooly, what about the Dacia EV?
12.
friends who are about 50 odd miles away. If I had forgotten to recharge etc, then that would not be possible. I wouldn't dare on a partial charge.
Do you venture out with a partially filled fuel tank? All perfectly doable as you can make use of the satnav app if you are in a town you are not familiar with. A 50kw charger puts about 90 miles range in 30 mins so whilst shopping...the newer fast chargers can double that. Judith, thats easy to do in an electric car.
13.
All these cars with say 160 miles limit, well, when I lived in France that would have been no good at all. AND I would never want to be waiting to recharge who knows where. Even here recharging would be very problematic where I now live.
When you lived in France you regularly travelled 160 miles per day? You would recharge at home overnight and very low cost Its not who knows where its shop car parks, petrol stations and parking places. Whilst that wouldn't have been true when you were there things are getting better but just like the vaccine France is a bit slow. Yes if you cant charge at home in the UK stick to burning fossil fuels for a while longer. Fast charging networks are installing more chargers and the vehicles are able to charge much quicker than the older ones its all going in the right direction
14. I thought you were going to burst into song wooly

16. Far be it for me to post a conspiracy theory but very clever people are looking very closely at Covid 19. Its seems that it does really well in adipose tissue (fat). It also only seems to do well in laboratory mice which are genetically bread to be more human like. Apes are very susceptible to human flu virus and it can be fatal to them. Covid 19 on the other hand has left them untouched. In short 4 unusual things with very high odds against each one happening therefore making incredibly high odds of 4 things having come together in just the right way to attack humans and especially overweight ones. Coincidence or laboratory experiment?
17. Betise wrote: "Type 2 diabetes is generally perceived as progressive and incurable, but for many patients it can be reversed with sustained weight loss of around 15 kg, say experts in The BMJ today." Not just the weight loss, although important its also the insulin resistance that can and needs to be reversed.
18. Ah that rare commodity, common sense! Seems to be disappearing.
19. Based on the real evidence the hydrogenated fats cause problems as your body doesn't recognise them because they do not occur in nature only in food laboratories and Governments have not simply banned them outright shows the systemic issues in society. Someone gets rich whilst others suffer for their weak willed ways and nothing changes due to the large donations or non executive salaries paid to influencers. Look how long cigarette advertising took to stop, the damn things are still on sale and stupid people still use them.

Mind you the Governments need to change the diet advice first. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/sep/12/tom-watson-lost-seven-stone-reversed-type-2-diabetes-interview

22. There are those whos diet is just burgers and fried chicken obviously at the opposite end to you Idun but the queues into these fast food places hasn't abated at all during the pandemic. Yep it was said that grazing was better by a few possibly those paid to do so by the food companies. It is now pretty much established that the opposite is true and intermittent fasting is actually more healthy, eating when you are actually hungry, Breakfast isnt necessary for most. Obviously the job you may do could influence that. Reducing sugar intake is still key to a healthy life.
23. Some of us enjoy the science, learning the mechanisms behind how the marvelous machine that are our bodies function is facinating. You dont need to know how are car works to drive one but its nevertheless handy to know a garagiste if things go wrong and you'll be even more thankful if that person is up to speed with the most modern information.
24. Why are you affraid Ken? There are reasons why people eat and eat and with some it will be because its free but just as I posted there is never one size fits all. Fructose for instance and the lack of fibre in meals means signals of fullness do not reach the brain so they keep eating, one reason is burgers that are from minced beef so chewing isn't necessary therefore another signal to the brain is missing. Also its habit, they get used to consuming more and food manufacturers know how to tweak their food to allow this to continue.
25. Indeed, there is a Hungry Horse pub near Whitstable, I observed a family of heavies consume the huge fruit bowl sized ice cream Sundae to Saturday haha meant for sharing all to each member and that was on top of a massive main course.
