1. OK I give in... Ain't no gettin blood out of a stone.  I promise to keep to rules and never again discuss the forum rules on the open forum  I promise also to report all breaches of this rules, so I will report to you people who discuss the rules.  I respectfully suggest that all other members might do this also. I promise also to report anyone saying anything bad about any company.  I respectfully suggest all other forum users have a duty to do this too. I trust nothing in this post has caused you to worry or breaches any rule.... Sorryyy I sai the R word!!
 2.
In order to be a responsible member of the online community you must adhere to the following terms and conditions. Anyone who doesn’t feel they can abide by these guidelines should not sign up to them. If users are found to be breaching these guidelines once they have joined, they will be issued with one warning or banned immediately depending on the severity of their breach. Previously banned members who post again under a different alias will be deleted without further warnings. Comments or questions regarding the general administration of the forum should be made by "private message" or using the "Report" link to the moderators or direct to Forum Admin. Such comments or questions should not be posted in the open forum. Now, can you keep your promise [:)]
Yes, provided you answer the question.  Can we discuss on open forum, the rules of the forum.  Just say no and I will not.  I can not see how discussion of this topic breaches the rules you quote.  The use of heavy typpe incidentally suggests that you feel I am a previously banned member.  I am not and will happil send to you, privately, proof of my Id.
 3.
And of course Archant can be relied on to make balanced decisions - the same company that STILL takes advertisments from people working in France illegally!
Mod..  I have reported this comment as one which suggests Archant supports illegal activities but you have not removed it.  The report thing needs to be working if you want people to use it.  Does this by any chance show how absurd your interpretation of the rules is?
 4.

You already know the answer to that one, as RH says above, please feel free to email forum admin if you would like to discuss the rules.
So why will no mod answer the simple question.  May rules be discussed in open forum on this site?
If the answer is no say so and I will never mention rules agian.... Just also tell me which rule it breaks.

 6.
Hmmm - I thought you said you read the Code of Conduct [:)] Comments or questions regarding the general administration of the forum should be made by "private message" or using the "Report" link to the moderators or direct to Forum Admin. Such comments or questions should not be posted in the open forum.
Come on now... I am being reasonable.  If you can't see that it is a bit pointless.  I have read the rules and like all rules they are for the guidance of wise men (and women) and the blind obedience of others
 7.
.....and that is the rub, your idea of relaying the information accurately may not be the same as the the idea of the person you are relaying the information about. To be honest, if you would like to discuss the Code of Conduct with Forum Admin, please feel free, in the meantime posts that are not in accordance with the Code of Conduct will be deleted.
OK... Do you mind if I go through the site and report all comments (negative) about all companies.  Is that OK.  Do you mind if others do the same thing?  This is a rhetorical question and I do not plan to do something so petty but isn't it time to admit maybe some mods have got it a little wrong?
That is fair and I will keep to your rules.  Can the rules be discussed in general forum though. I respectfully suggest that as this is a forum and all here are affected by the rules a civilised and proper discussio in open forum is perfectly proper.  Do ypou disagree?
 9.
There is to be no 'naming and shaming' on the site. If you have any complaints about particular individuals/companies then contact the relevant parties or authorities.
I am not arguing and can see these rules were drafted by minds vastly superior to my own little mass of wobbly stufff.  I would say though that this rule, if taken as an absolute rule precludes all statments, negative or otherwise, being made.  This not only means that one may not name a company but also suggests one may not make obvious the name of a company. No problem with that.  But would the moderators like to check the thousdands of posts which mention Tiscali, Wanadoo, Orange, The water company, EDF, BA, and so on and so on... Be realistic modorator, don't quote the rules as though they are cast in stone.   Plainly some degree of common sence must be applied.  There is often just cause to 'have a go at' one or another company provided there is nothing OTT said.  Companies like Ryanair are big and VERY robust and can take it. I do agree that personal attacks on people should always be pulled... always.    We all have a moan from time to time about ASDA or cornflakes etc so please don't try to inhibit that... You will ruin your site if you do.   Anyone agree with me?
 10. Well don't have a Gite, we av ole int road and pice of tarpollin.  We got neigh on eighteen hundred guests, mostly frompt Yorkshire ant dales.  By ech though our guests are right appy.
 11.

Just thought I would add - my thread seems to have been hi-jacked.  I didn't see the joke thing which is being referred to here. The subject to which I am referring to is what I have noticed across all subjects. An example would be the LHD thread - someone asked whether a  company was worth dealing with.  This was responded with a reminder of be aware of naming and shaming.  My point is by saying someone is not reputable is or not recommended is certainly not naming and shaming. I would also welcome what other posters think, not just Moderator bias. Clarification on this point would be helpful by the Moderators once they have listened to other posters opinions. Deby
I think you really do have to take that up with Forum Admin or Archant. Whether someone is reputable or not, is often a matter of opinion. If you had a bad experience with a customer and they posted x,y and z about you, it may not be unreasonable for you to feel aggrieved. I don't think Archant have, or want to have the resources to get into any sort of refereeing role, nor be sued for defamation etc, so there is a blanket rule to protect the company and other people too.
On the contrary, provided you relay the facts accurately it is for the reader to infer from the post what he or she will.  It is not in my opinion for moderators to lend their often bias opinion and then expect all others to concur... Just my opinion of course.  On the whole moderators do a difficult and good job... But why spoil that but not realising that some of your contibutors have good points and should be allowed to make moderate critisism and discuss moderating on this site.   Sorry bout spelling ...  Bit thick me.
 12.
The report button was always there....
Funny that... Why the extreme enthusiasm when moderating on ryanair and the reliance on us to press the reject button when dealing with serious breaches of policy ...re racial and sexual content of jokes...    I know I can't win... This is just a discussion but watch my posts get pulled
 13.
Yes. But not when the offensive jokes were posted...
Quite right Dick and the chap who protested strongly and eventually had them removed was.... guess what.... banned from the site.... He is my son.... Guess I may now be guilty by association... I hope not
 14.
It wasn't your fault powerdesal, we have had (as you may have noticed) a bit of trouble this afternoon.
Cathy, before joing I followed that thread and by 'trouble' do you mean someone complaining about the jokes breaching guidlines... basically being a little racist?  Say it how it is or don't say it at all.
 15.
I think its great to have a balanced view, and thats the key word 'balanced'  Plenty of critical posts are allowed, about all sorts of things, there is a fine line between posting logical criticism and spamming !
And yet finer between moderation and censorship....
 16.
Perhaps you should ask the forum owners, Archant, who provide and fund the forum?
What an interesting comment.  Have you by any chance read George Orwell?  My impression was that this was a site which invited open and fair debate about all things French and France with a particular bent upon UK people who live or aspire to live here.  Are you saying that we must seek approval from Archant on what we discuss because they pay for the site?  I read the rules when applying and they say nothing of this.  Provided a statement is fair, non insulting and so on it should be published. Please could you clarify this for me and any others who may be confused.
