I have received a letter and forms inviting me to renew my rights for the year 1st October to 30th September.  As this is the first time that I have completed the application, other than the initial application on expiry of E106, I would be grateful if anyone could tell me what document they use for the section that asks for "les documents attestant de la regularite de votre sejour (carte de sejour, recepisse en cours de validitie,convocation, rendez-vous en prefecture...) if they do not have a carte de sejour.  On the initial application EDF bills etc seemed to meet the requirement.  Thanks Hester.

Although I cannot help with advice on where to obtain the relevant form, I too have been informed by Newcastle that as I have done a few weeks work whilst living in France I must apply here first when I claim next year.  Newcastle say that to try and go directly through them will only hold up the process.  I only learnt this by chance when 'phoning to ask when they would be sending out my claim pack.  I shall continue to make enquiries as to what needs to be done.  Regards Hester.

I buy any product that is for washing baby clothes, usually marked up as for sensitive skin, these seem to stop my skin allergy from flaring up and are quite good on stains also.  Regards Hester.

Thanks everyone for the replies.  I have looked into the regards and in the second one there is some rock filter, however this is in a string bag, should it have been left in the bag or should the bag be cut away.  Thanks Hester.

 Oh dear.  Thanks for your replies, I have looked into a regard in the bottom left hand corner, it is half full of quite smelly water.  After reading other threads I think that I will check that the filter rock has been put in place and maybe add something other than the Eparcyl which I use weekly; didn't add anything special to it when it was installed.  Otherwise I guess I should try a get the builder back.  Regards Hester. P.S. Do you clean out your tank that holds the pump?    

I had a new fosse system installed last summer viz. all domestic water to a small holding tank with a pump, this then pumped up the slope to the fosse toutes eaux and then released into the tranchees which run horizontally across sloping land. Recently the ground around the bottom trench has begun to smell which I didn't really expect.  Could anyone tell me whether this indicates a problem or is there always going to be some odour in the water that is passed into the drainage trenches?  There has been a lot of rain could this make a difference? Thanks ErnieY, yes the phone is crackling! Although it becomes clear if I unplug the computer line from the double adapter.  Hopefully there could be a chance of it righting itself from what you say.  Regards Hester.

During a thunderstorm on Monday I foolishly tried to finish some work that I was doing on the computer.  There was a loud "pop", like a light bulb blowing, and the screen went off for a couple of seconds then came back on again at which point I switched off.  Since then the little box that comes up showing what speed I am connected at when I dial-up to the internet is only between 16 and 21 (previously it was around 48). I have done a pc doctor check and it is telling me that the modem has passed. I would be grateful if anyone could advise if they think it possible that something has "blown" even though everything seems to be working, just loss of speed.  I am clinging to the hope that it's something to do with the 'phones lines and that it will sort itself eventually. I would be grateful if anyone could advise as to whether we need to submit the form "declaration d'ouverture de chantier" on starting work approved last year under a "declaration de travaux" application.  The form itself appears to be for permis de construire but the official website doesn't make it clear as to whether it is also required when starting work under a "Declaration Prealable".  Thanks Hester.

In 2007 I received a tax overpayment refund (generated from completing the FD5) which related to the salary earned in the UK before coming to France.  I wonder if anyone could advise a) where might be the best place to enter this on this year's tax declaration and b) after reading another thread, if it is necessary to declare it as it is a refund that was owed whilst fiscally resident in the UK.   Thanks Hester.
