  1. Thank you for answering Judie, yes it does help me and sets my mind at rest.  It is a very daunting prospect especially going through it on ones own.  Thanks for your help. Best wishes Julia
  2. Thank you Will, that makes me feel a little better, it is my property that is being sold. I am the seller and the Compromis is being sold at my property.  This is very strange, I just hope everything is going to be OK.  Feel worried. Julia.
  3. Could anyone tell me if it is normal to sign a Compris de Vente at the property and not in the presence of a Notaire.  Are Immobilier qualified to do this? Thankyou
  4. Hi Does anyone know if I have to pay tax in the UK for bringing money back from the sale of my property in France after paying Capital Gains Tax here in France.  Also because I was widowed my sons own part of my property and want to make it straight back to me upon completion - The Notaire said she can do this, if she receives a signed letter from them - does anyone know if I have to pay Gift Tax on this. Thank
  5. Monika, I am sorry to hear that you are going to be in the same position as me.  My late husband and I bought the property between us, half each.  When he passed away his half was divided into half. Therefore, half went to me and the other to my two sons (being one eighth each).  I own three quarters of the property and my sons own one quarter between them.  There will be capital gains to pay as my late husband and I converted a large barn into 2 gites before he died and I think I will have to pay CG on this. If there is any other way I can help please let me know - I wish you well. JAW123
  6. Hi I was widowed three and a half years ago and one quater of my property was inherited by my two sons.  I have now decided to sell and return to the UK, after being here for 6 years.  My sons want me to have the full amount of the value of the property, I was wondering if anyone could advise me.  Many thanks JAW
  7. Hi, can anyone help... I have been running gites for 4 years and am in the French Tax.  I am 60 later this year and want to apply for my UK Pension and understand that I need to go through the French System. There is a french pensions application form (printed in English) that I need to obtain and fill in.  They will then process it for me and send it to the UK for them to arrange for my pension to be paid out.  My question is - does anyone know where I get/download this form from and where I send it to once it is filled in or should I give the whole process to my accountant.  Thank you Julia W..
  8. I am in the Lot, between Soulliac and Cahors. Thank you for you time. J.
  9. Hi, The French Dream went wrong, and I would like to return to the UK.  I would like to gather as much legal and other information possible about selling my property (part of which now belongs to my two sons) and returning to the UK.   I have been living in France for 5 years, 2.5 on my own.  My property is a very successful gite business which I am running totally on my own.  If there is anyone who could advice me so I could start the ball rolling on what seems to me a mamoth task I would be very grateful.
