1. I know I should, but I never look at my bank statements - but I did today and saw a charge "contributions sociales et autres" for 26 and a bit Euro.  Opened hubbie's statement too and he's paid same.  This isn't a usual charge as far as I remember.  Can anybody tell me what it is please?
2.
Do you provide mooncups for each female visitor?!!! Do you have an all-purpose 'visitor' model?!!!!! I thought my husband was bad enough giving visitors the "nothing-down-the-toilet-except-pee-and-poo-and-paper" lecture whenever they head towards the bathroom, but enforcing mooncups on all visitors seems a bit drastic! Jane
What a bizzare and disturbing idea!!! [:-))]
3. Many thanks Clair. Seb - no tampons should go into a fosse, not even organic ones.
4. Does anybody know where I can buy organic tampons online in France please? Thanks

Attestation

I applied for my CV in my own name (I am married but retain my original name).  I signed the forms in my name and a copy of my marraige certificate was asked for. When my attestation arrived, some kindly soul had decided to change my name to that of my husband's!   French paperwork frightens me!  Will I be setting the cat amounst the pigeons if I remind them that my name is not the same name as my husband's as per the application I signed in my own name?  Shall I just give up my own identity and assume my husbands???!  [Www]   EDIT  thanks Will NB ...  .... I changed my original post when I realised a lot of the information was given in another posting.   Will's was answering my original posting at the same time as I was changing it.
6. Does anybody know how long do I get go to the prefecture and register the second-hand car I've just bought?  I can't remember how long I took to register my last one? Thanks
7. is this proposed route now cancelled?  It's no longer showing on Ryanair's website.
8. sadly not (but many thanks).  I only know (or think I know!!)   it's the road through dreux on the way to evroux - I wouldn't recognise any road names or layouts.  Thanks anyway.
9. I used to travel regularly through Orlean, Chartres, Dreux, etc  en route to the ports, so know there are loads of hotels on the way   I want to stop the night in Dreux at a BB hotel on the way to the UK - I think the hotels are on a roundabout near a Macdonalds on the main route through ...ie, can't miss them!!!  Can anybody confirm please, as I don't want to have to drive around looking for it in the middle of the night.    (I think the hotels in Chartres are also on a roundabout near a Macdonalds too - I want to make sure I'm not getting them confused!)   Thanks
10. I have a single storey attached to my two storey farmhouse.  I would like to fit a wood burner in it exiting through the outside wall .  Is there any regulation as to how high the chimney needs to be?  Or does anybody have any knowledge as to why this might not be a good idea??!
11. Have you bought insulation recently at a good price?  (at a nation chain) If so where did you get it and how much (ish) was it please? I need to buy quite a few rolls so am looking for a good price. Thank you
12. Thanks for your replies everyone (apple and fizzy water sounds nice!)   Tenniswitch ... I did think about that aspect, but decided that if I was going to the fuss of making cocktails for other people it would hardly be making an inappropriate fuss to make a non-alcoholic one.  I will be mindful not to make a big deal of it though - I understand what you're saying.
13. Does anybody have any nice suggestions as to what one can serve to a recovering alcoholic when others will be drinking champagne, cocktails etc.  I want to make something special and indulgent so they don't feel left out while everybody else has nice looking drinks.  Does anybody have recipes for anything that looks really nice and festive, as well as tasting good.   Thanks folks.
14. Thanks for all of the replies and ideas folks. JR - not sure what you mean?  If you re-read my post you'll see that what I'm looking for is security (for myself and my cats) when the shutters are open.  When they are closed they provide ample security, but that's not my issue.   Cheers folks
15. Hi Chas ... how strong are they?  They look like one good kick would open the window. Cheers [:)]
16. I have a ground floor bedroom window (with shutters) that opens onto the road (a quiet country road, but one that does get a fair bit of use).  The window is low - one could step right over the threshold into the room with no difficulty. I would like the option of having the windows open to air out the room with the security to prevent somebody stepping into the house and helping themselves to my precious things!     ... but ..... I have two cats and I need to ensure they can't get out onto the road.   So bars aren't aren't a good option for me.  Does anybody have any suggestions?  What would be absolutly perfect is some kind of grille (with no cat sized holes in it!) ... that I can lock and unlock ... giving me the option of having the windows open without the cats getting out, and also another fire escape should it ever be needed. Or, second best would be a permenant grille, but without spaces for the cats to get out. Tall order ... but has anybody seen anything that might do the trick. Thanks [:D]
17. I've never travelled through this airport before ... can anybody tell me if the one hand luggage only rule is enforced here? Thanks
18. does anybody know of anywhere nice to stay?  [:)]
19. Splendid!  [:D] Thanks folks, I look forward to reading some of those recommendations.
20. Has anybody read any that they would recommend?
21. I did one of mine in a rush and haven't made a good job of it ... very messy in a corner and it'll annoy me forever! So, can I tile OVER the tiles I put up?  I could score all over them with an axle grinder or similar.  Then I can make sure the corners are need and to my exacting standards!  [:P]
22.   I wouldn't recommend borrowing a cot matress for a baby ... using a second hand/old matress is linked with SDS .... just not worth the risk, buy a new one.
23. Clair - your signature link ... who is that singing?  Lovely voice and very foxy!
