1. The bit I can't reconcile is why Ferrari's counsel, Nigel Tozzi QC, was present and why he was questioning Hamilton??? What was it to do with Ferrari? Surely this was all about Hamilton's action in relation to the FIA rules. The fact that a Ferrari car was involved in the incident doesn't seem to have much relevance to me ( I say this with tongue firmly in cheek).[:@]
2. When they upgraded ours they worked both inside (at the internal meter end) and at the outside roadside box.... funnily enough the chap drove the short distance from outside the house on our drive back up to the road, and back again a couple of times.
3. Yeh, you're right, it is an old thread but I thought I'd post on it as it's the one that pointed me at Quality Tools.  I'll take your advice regarding the FS90 although it seems to be positioned within the "Powerful" category within Stihl's brochure and reviews I've read were pretty positive.  As to warranty.... this is something I have to follow up with Stihl.  Apart from the warranty/liquidation question there's also the question of UK purchased but now in France?
4. We tried to buy hob, cooker, dishwasher and fridge/freezer from Darty via there on-line site. It said to call them regarding delivery. We did this but they said they wouldn't deliver to our village. So, on our  last  trip we took a drive to Darty at Montauban. We had a very helpful salesman and he told us he could get all the items in store in 2 days but he couldn't deliver as we outside of their delivery area. This wasn't a major showstopper as we had come over in a hire van. So we had a little discussion over a bit more discount which we managed to agree on. Then just before we left he came out and gave us a bottle of champagne. We duly returned in 2 days and all was available and cheerfully loaded in the van by a couple of the young men. So, overall a thumbs up for Darty although we a bit disappointed to find we were in a delivery black hole.
5. cowoman posted a link to Quality Tools where he got his Husqvarna brushcutter.  I followed up on this and ended up getting a Stihl FS90 brushcutter through them. Got it for a very good price and it's a great bit of kit. It appears I got my order (and delivery) in just in time as they are now in liquidation.  That was a close one [:)]
6. I heard that there was a fund raising initiative being mounted by PGP and IBM to help save Bletchley. If you haven't been I can highly recommend a visit. Apart from the fascinating exhibits the guided tour we had from one of its "ex-employees" was absolutely brilliant.  He wouldn't tell us what he had done there but the man was a real character with a "brain as big as a house". Here's a shot of the Colossus machine (the worlds first electronic computer) I took. We even had Tony Sale the man who rebuilt it give us a talk about it. 7. You're absolutely right Val. The TV report showed her as a lovely, bright and happy little girl... brought a tear to the eye.
8. With all the financial doom and gloom it's sometimes nice to see an uplifting story. I saw this on the lunchtime news .... little Ellie May and her first day at school. What a fighter.
9. I just signed up for the Alis offer. No subscription or standing charge but you do need a french bank account. They will send it to the UK and mine took about a week in total. They also sent me hi-viz waistcoat as part of the package. Additionally, you can nominate a section of the A28 Rouen - Alencon route where you'd like to get a small discount.  I haven't used it in anger yet but come October....[8-|]
10. Thanks JR.  Never knew that [:$] so that's another useful adition to my vocabulary. [B] As to your  verb question... don't know but no doubt others will be along soon.
11. Thinking of you both.  You take care of yourself as well, you'll be no use to Deb if you get too exhausted.
12. You wouldn't be having a "de" in those examples would you?
13. Thanks Clair. I hadn't thought about that approach. Of course, that makes perfect sense.  Many thanks. Well, that was a problem solved in record time [:$][:)]
14. I was trying to put together the phrase " we can understand each other". I started to get stuck with how to express "each other". At first I thought that I might try... Nous pouvons comprendre chaque autre But, it never seemed quite right. Is it more correct to say "Nous pouvons compendre l'un de l'autre". All advice gratefully received. [:)]
15. Personally, I prefer a bike with a nice chunk of torque rather than outright power... more "real world" usable IMO.
16. Yes, it was a really nice day and the overall atmosphere was good.  They had a couple of the sections in the river with a diver on standby. Here's a few more shots if anyone is interested. Adam Raga Alexz Wigg (yes, that's how he spells it) Sam Haslam Dougie Lampkin (again) Takahisa Fujinami Alexz Wigg (again)
17. The other week I was asking about whether this trial was being held this year... well, it certainly was and what an excellent hot and sunny day. The field was outstanding... Lampkin, Fujinami, Raga, Cabestany, Bou. In addition there were some other UK riders who we knew from our involvement in UK trials... young Alexz Wigg, James Dabill, Sam Haslam.  Great stuff and a really nice relaxed atmosphere. Here's a couple of shots. Dougie Lampkin (7 times consecutive world champ) Takahisa Fujinami (ex indoor world champion)
18.
L'Histoire de France pour les Nuls is great!  And you can practice your French in nice, bitesized chunks at the same time.
Just to revive this old(ish) thread.  I bought "L'Histoire de France pour les Nuls" from LeClerc last week and for me it it fulfils two things.  Firstly the history element in an easy to digest form but just as important it's an excellent French language aid. Bitesize chunks in fairly undemanding form.
19. Just got back to the UK and read this... very bad news and I can only wish you  all the very best.
20. krusty, gosub.  Thanks a lot for the advice.  I'll see if I can get a free detendeur from them.
21. Thanks a lot John.  That's exactly what I was trying to determine. I just want to get a standard type bottle of propane, something around the 13Kg size. I wasn't worried about changing the regulator but would have preferred not to if possible, but not a big deal. Thanks again.
22. Never mind the rain... get out there a take a photo to show us. Have fun.
23. Please excuse me for bumping my own thread (sad isn't it). Do I just need to ask for a Propane Patio gas bottle with the fitting for a clip on regulator or something else. Sorry if this is a dumb question but we've only used the blue Calor Gas clip on bottles in the UK and the regulator for them is quite different.
24. I'm bringing across a gas BBQ which has already got a propane compatible regulator fitted. Is bottled propane with this style of fitting easily available in France. |Photo below. If it is, any idea what I should ask for? 25. Thanks again Clair. We'll definitely try and get there.
