1.
Blimey you do pay a premium for being able to speak English, 68€ [:-))]
No idea where you get that figure from Chancer? The internet package is 29.90€ and I like my FT line seperate, had too much trouble in the past with VoiP.
 2.
I think Charly was talking in general terms about a particular attitude that is all-too-rife in the so-called 'expat' community and is well to the fore in programmes like this, rather than giving a personal viewpoint.
That is exactly how I read it! Perhaps Charly would like to comment? I also agree with the second part of your post, nothing is black & white. We love Cornwall where we lived for 24 years, we just felt like a change and a bit of adventure.
 3.

"seems they translate € 16 par mois into € 16 per month." Umm! Seems like a reasonable translation to me! Not sure if the quoted Teleconnect prices include TVA - If not, it works out at €63.10/month for the same service that I get from FT/Orange for €68.46/month - not a great saving so I have to ask, is it worth the hassle?
Not if you are happy with Orange, your original post seemed to suggest this was not the case. The prices quoted on the Teleconnect website are inclusive.
Is the 7/7 free fixed line service to 103 destinations inclusive then? ( minor semantic expansion on earlier post, unanswered)
Sorry, I have no idea what you are talking about. Never seen anything on their site which mentions 103 destinations. Prices and destinations for the "free" calls can be found HERE
 4.
"Obviously"??? There could well be many other reasons, "perhaps" would have been a better choice especially as "obviously" is a phrase loved and often (mis)used by the very type of people that you are talking of.
"Obviously" is not a phrase and I talk "about" people not "of" them but your comments have been noted for future reference, thank you.

 6.
Before you comment and make wild guesses why not READ THE POST AGAIN? Your post blindly followed someone who either never read it properly or totally failed to understand what I said !
Perhaps you had better spell it out for them Charly. Obviously they didn't read  your post properly or read into it what they wanted so as to fit an idea they have already lodged into their minds!
 7.

I endorse that - excellent service.
Was a time I said the same !
Yeah, I remeber it well, very long time ago. To be honest I don't care what anyone else decides to do. I've been with Teleconnect a long time now and they sorted my FT line for me after months of getting nowhere with FT themselves. Their 2 hours free calls are via the FT line and not Voip, other calls are cheap. I have decent speed, a UK  number for friends/business and the package price is reasonable. I am happy with them, what more can you ask?
 8.
Is that the shower that charge € 16 per month so you dont have FT?
Have a look at their website. It's in English but I'm sure you will be able to understand it.
 9. If you can afford an Aston why would you need a garage with tools in it?
 10. Just checked my accounts at CA and Credit Mutual and there is no charge for statements on either. Isn't it odd that some people are charged and others not? I did notice on my CA statement a charge of 9€ for "prlv Une comm. d'intrervention". Anyone any idea what that is, never had one of those before! Edit - just found it HERE, Commission for the Bank's intervention in paying an item when your account is overdrawn, - which never happened - looks like a visit to the branch tomorrow!!

 12.

When we lived in France, we liked living parmi les francais, who never appeared to have a very relaxed life style, they worked hard and long hours and many were not well off. So yes, when we see expats going on about 'life style' I always look flabbergasted, because it doesn't look, I'm struggling for a word here, 'normal' 'real' just plain right. It is surely the other France and I am uncomfortable with it. Uncomfortable with many things on many levels really.
Blimey Idum, when and where did you live?  It sounds pretty dreadful!  You need to come to the Dordogne and meet some our of french friends and neighbours... perhaps you'd see a different kind of normal.
I agree, if I felt like that I would move and never return! The Dordogne looks like a splendid area, we have lived here 9 years and only just passed through. Time for an extended visit I think!
 13. Chancer, I have used ExpatShield for some time without any adverts whatsoever. Use it with Firefox browser and have AdBlock Plus 1.3.9 add-on installed.
 14. Wow, try saying that without taking a breath until you get to the ";"
 15.
Mmmmm I put I think because thats I way I am I dont force my opinon down peoples throats I leave it open for others to say oh but I think ........ No difference between net or book but conversation is just as good ...... ;)
Would you care to present that last line again in English (or French) so that we can at least understand your babble?
 16.
Whats wrong with the old art of conversation ? If we google everything there would be no point to the forum would there ..... ;)
There again you might find useful & correct information instead of "I think". Also what is the difference between looking it up on the net or in a book?
 17. Why not google "prune raspberry patch" loads of stuff on the net like http://www.ehow.com/how_16245_prune-raspberries.html
 18.
Any Sky card that is up to date will get you the free to view channels.  The only cards "married" to the box are for the Premium channels, i.e Sky Sports and Sky Movies. You can obtain a Freesat From Sky card for £20 from Sky.  A friend or relative in the UK can get one for you by going to the Sky web site and posting on to you in France.
So you can but the Sky + features will not work which was the original question.
............ although I didn't like the love scenes between Captain Jack and Angelo, OH was cringeing out loud......
I love SciFi series but this was the one reason I stopped watching Torchwood.
I  have absolutely no interest in anything you have to say. Ignore my posts, because this is the very last thing that I will EVER reply to that you have posted!
You find it very easy to criticise other people, it’s unfortunate you are not able to take it yourself.
[8-)] Are you implying homosexuals are not normal? I do hope not! Accepting sexual differences is one of the best things that has happened in the past few years.
Why is it you "hope not", because the poster does not have the same moral standards, or lack of them, as you? Why is accepting sexual differences the best thing to have happened in the last few years? Lots of people I know are indifferent to  the gay fraternity and their way of life. You can accept that something happens without endorsing it surely. You seem to come out with these statements as if yours is the only valid point of view that everyone must embrace.

 24. "I don't think it's scaremongering, just being realistic." -- My "scaremongering" quote related to Val_2's post about people being fined if they did not carry out remedial work before a second inspection. Nothing to do with your post Sid, sorry if I confused matters there but I did quote Val's post first.. Our "certificate de conformite" was issued when the fosse was installed, just as yours would have been. The certificate was given to us when we purchased the property. I can see the point you are making and agree when the system breaks down completely then you will need to buy a new one, just as you would a car if it becomes too old/expensive to repair. I also agree that you should expect to do some remedial work in the future to keep it up to standard. I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one however as I would expect a system passed by the authorities to conform to the current regulations in every respect and not to have it contested on the sale of the property. It would be interesting to hear from others who may have had an old system passed. By the way, were you not given the option to install a new filter bed, rather than a full system?
