1. What about this diatomaceous earth we keep hearing about.  I'm going to try to get some.  Apparently it has to be the food grade. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgJ68B3AqKw
2. C'est mon gigolo !   And I don't even know what lateral thinking is in English.   [:D]
3. Yes, that has made me feel very happy Pads.  Good for you and a great example of how wonderful and easy an older dog can be, adapting and fitting in so well as if he had always been there.  How long had he been at the refuge?  Aren't you much happier now than you were without him?  And that's saying a lot as you were already so happy before!   [:D] Really looking forward to seeing photos of Doggy.  How funny that Boo had already chosen him before you did! What about the missing cat.  Is he still around under the caravan? A bientôt chez McDo.

5.           Two more recent photos of Spirou at Janet's.  He really is a sweet little dog with a lovely character.  No faults!
6. This is heartbreaking and unbelievable.  Poor Upollus has been at the Neuville sur Sarthe (72) shelter for seven and a half years ! He is absolutely adorable (super mignon) and very loving.  Why has noone ever bothered about him? The only slight "fault" he has is that when he is so pleased to have someone bother about him, he is a little bouncy with joy and jumps up, but immediately stops and sits when told. He is now nine years old though doesn't look it at all.  There must be a way of getting him out of there.  He has suffered more than enough waiting and hoping all those years.  Is there anyone to offer this cutie a home? The adoption fee is a little steep, but maybe that can be negotiated with the promise of a loving home.  Please see all about him with plenty of photos here: http://www.rescue-forum.com/adoption-chien-17/upollus-x-griffon-noir-super-mignon-9-ans-7-ans-refuge-72-a-8183/?sa=1   Sorry, that should be Upollus in the title, not Upollux.
7. I see exactly where it was Ian between the lights and the motel a bit further down on the N 12.  Not only did the lorry driver not look in his mirror, but the overtaking car had not anticipated that he would come out to avoid the parked van.  If you are coming the other way you cannot possibly anticipate that someone is going to come across on to your side.
8. Well done Ian and thank you for sharing with us once again.  I never realised Deb's accident was at Verneuil sur Avre which I know very well having lived very near there for many years.

10. Well that explains it all.  When I first saw the title (without the context) I thought it was an employment offer for the supermarket.  Sorry, should of course have said hypermarket.
11. It would help if you gave us the context.  If it is about actors chosen for a film, it would probably mean there are a great number of people there hoping for their chance for a role.
12. Perhaps many expats are not aware of what goes on where they actually live because they only watch UK tv and read British newspapers.  Why so much attention to the Aveyron affair?  As 5E and Quillan mention, this type of thing unfortunately goes on all the time. Just two examples in our part of France, a poor old lady living on her own and a "marginal" both savagely murdered and for nothing! : http://niort.ville.orange.fr/actu/region/meurtre-d-une-octogenaire-en-charente-un-suspect-mis-en-examen-2-mois-apres-21162.html http://niort.ville.orange.fr/actu/region/vienne-un-mineur-ecroue-pour-le-meurtre-sauvage-d-un-marginal-21630.html
13. What are you supposed to do when you see "chute de pierres" ?
14.
It beggers belief. I'm really annoyed, under normal circumstances I'd probably shrug my shoulders in a gallic manner, but every time I think of that poor little girl who must have been beside her self with fear....
When they later found out that the couple had two children, they were searching for her by helicopter, etc.  Didn't they think of looking in the car first ?!
15. Ian you have such a simple and beautiful way of expressing everything.  You must have been such a calm, steady rock for Coops.  I cannot really explain how I feel, but I feel so sad and cannot stop thinking about it, as if I had lost someone close, yet I hardly had any direct contact with her, as we often dealt with different subjects on here.  It just shows the enormous impact she had on us all. Coops loved people, animals, photography and of course cars!  She loved everything, especially life and obviously made the most of it.  Why oh why was life so unfair to her? Yes, please come back whenever you feel like it.  You are now part of the forum and very much loved on here too.  Please try to take care of yourself now and I wish you the strength to overcome your great loss and one day be able to enjoy the happy memories. 16. Apparently they left London yesterday arriving in Saint Malo at 8.30 this morning hoping to arrive at Barcelona at about 17.00.  So watch out, they are on their way down! http://actu.orange.fr/insolite/france-alerte-sur-les-routes-avant-une-course-pour-millionnaires-afp_1057280.html   http://www.charentelibre.fr/2012/09/06/alerte-rouge-sur-les-routes-un-cannonball-est-prevu-demain-en-region,1112710.php
17. A cyclist found a British BMW today on a forest car park with the driver and two women shot dead inside the car.  A cyclist was dead near the car and a little girl seriously wounded by the car was taken to hospital by helicopter. http://actu.orange.fr/une/tuerie-en-haute-savoie-4-morts-une-fillette-grievement-blessee-afp_1055948.html

19. Coops is so lucky to have you and she knows that, having said several times how much she appreciates your love and support.  That has certainly been a great part of her incredible strength.  Thank you once again for taking the time to write to us Ian.
20. My father was only sixty-four.  I was not there either.  It was very sudden and a great shock.  Je sais ce que tu ressens.  That's nice that you are close to your mother, even if she is so far away, you have each other. Et la rentrée des classes ?  Aren't you back at school yet ?  When does it start, I never know!
21. Oh ma pauvre, ça fait vraiment beaucoup.  You must feel so orphaned.  I think at whatever age you lose your parents, you feel lost, especially your father.  Je suis de tout coeur avec toi et je t'embrasse très fort chère Frenchie.   [kiss] Et bon courage pour la rentrée des classes!
22. Oh dear.  No words either, just heaviness and sadness.  You are both so brave and to think of keeping us informed at such a time.
23.

Bonjour mes petits loups, mes petits poussins !   [:P]
Coucou ma biche ! [:)]
Alors, tu es revenue ma puce !
