  9. hello stefan, just want to say you have my sympathy totally, even if you have to live with the new goings on its a stomach churning feeling when the things that you have been living with, and chugging along nicely with, suddenly change, and maybe not for the better either, I truly hope things don't turn out as bad as you are thinking. I often sit and think how inviremental  health in the uk are worth their weight in gold. Good luck my friend.

  13. hi again, our tank was filled sept 20th 2006 what is left is 31%.
  14. We have gas central heating (propane) we had a plumbing company to install it, it cost 9000 euros, that was for two rads in the lounge, one in the hall, one in the downstairs loo, and one in each of the four bedrooms, our tank was put 6ft in the ground, so can't see it, we pay 12 euros per month for the hire of the tank (they won't let you buy it) and 116 euros per year for the maintenance of the heating, when they left they filled the tank up to 80% that cost 1,600 euros, that covers heating, cooking, and hot water, and as yet we still havn't had them back to refill, also forgot to mention that the 9000 also included a combination boiler. Hope this helps a bit.
  15. I agree with you john, I can't see the problem, the the neighbour build the wall, and use the fence money to buy some lovely bushes or hedging to go in front, or like you am I missing something.

    laurel hedges

thanks for another reply, I know the farmer livihood comes before feelings, its just that we had a wonderful unspoilt view of many green fields and total peace and quiet, (thats why we bought the house) now the view is interupted by an unsightly huge lean-to type thing covered in corrigated sheets, and maybe noise all day, we are not youngsters so turning the radio up loud won't be an option, just wanted to end our years in peace and quiet. That is of course why we came to france.

    laurel hedges

thank you for your reply, I envy you your quietness, thats what we had aswell, the said farmer has for years just grown crops, so we are very sad that he has now decided on ducks and chickens, they will be so near to our garden too, if the noise is too awful could we go to the maire or would he back the farmer, sorry this has deviated from our laurel hedge, I'm panicking a bit.
  22. can anyone help with laurel hedges please, we want to plant some quite near to the house, is this a good idea, as someone has said that they will be full of insects in the summer, also when should we start planting, if there is a better and faster growing hedge, we would grateful for the name. we are also looking for a sound barrier, the farmer is about to install chickens and ducks.thank you in advance.
