1. I'm moving to the Beziers area in just over 2 weeks time. Beziers isn't a million miles away I guess. I am a member of the U.K. ZRX owners club website, although I haven't posted on there muchal. I did go to the Kawasaki day at the Ace Cafe with the club last year. Keep in touch, I'm sure we can meet up at some point. Cheers - Simon.
2. One more question on the subject of importing campervans. Is the process of re-registering a German registered campervan easier as it would already have TUV approval? Thanks - Simon.
3. It does have a high top. Sounds like it is going to be far more hassle than it is worth. Thanks for the input.
4. It's a professional Holdsworth Conversion (Richard Holsworth), but unfortunately they are no longer in business. I found this French company selling VW campers, some of which look 'home made' http://www.autopauto.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=11&Itemid=21 Would that have any bearing on anything?
5. We are considering buying a UK registered LHD campervan to take to France with us when we move at the end of the month. It's a 1995 VW van with a UK camper conversion. If I have no Certificate of Conformity for it, is it going to be a headache to register on French plates? Thanks - Simon.
6. We have a Panasonic Plasma television that does not have a Secam tuner. We would like to take the television to France with us when we move early next year. I have already contacted Panasonic U.K. to ask if there is anything available to do the necessary conversion. Their answer was... "To clarify, to obtain full operation from your television in France, it will be necessary to have it converted. Panasonic do not, themselves, carry out such conversion but there may be companies listed on the web who can assist." I have searched the web but am not sure I am looking at the right types of products. Does anyone else have any experience of this type of conversion? Thanks - Simon & Ruby
7. We will probably need to find storage for 3-6 months in the Carcassonne area. Can anyone recommend anywhere and if possible let us know what sort of costs per square meter per month we would be looking at. Also what sort of price range should we be expecting to pay for a 2-3 bedroom rental property for the same period of time and are they easy enough to come by? Thanks - Simon & Ruby
8. You should be able to order LHD headlamps from a U.K. dealer and get it shipped over. My company specialises in Saab & Volvo parts and we ship loads of parts into France and the rest of Europe, including LHD headlamps or just the glass (which seems to do the job if available seperately) to Brit's who have exported their cars to France. Simon.
9. I received my C of C from Kawasaki U.K. this morning, which was pretty damn quick considering the recent postal strikes as well. Also we sold our house on Friday after it being on the market for just 2 days! So it's all moving pretty quickly at the moment! Starting to get a bit nervous about it all now! Thanks for your help - Simon & Ruby
10. Mike & Linda, We have only lived in Rushden Northamptonshire for 3 years, the main reason for moving here originally was because of my business and the costs involved in developing it further in London. I am originally from Wales. Bit of a nomad really! France was always the number 1 destination, but for some reason we thought Turkey might be a possibility as well, so we decided to visit Turkey first. We have just returned from a trip to Turkey, but we decided pretty quickly that it was a nice place for a holiday, but not somewhere we would be happy living long term for various reasons. We have been to France and Northern Spain numerous times over the years and always enjoyed it. We will be looking at the Languedoc region and are planning a trip out their in the next few weeks to have a good look around at the area.
11. Oh o.k. that's good news. I've only changed the can and it is still road legal.
SMT Sorry if my original post was not too clear. There are no 'special' parts for France.  The restrictions here are basically the same as those in the UK - use of racing cans and anything marked 'not for road use', etc. The difference being the UK plod will issue a ticket and a 'get it put back to normal' notice and send you on your way.  The gendarmes will just take the bike.....[:(]
12. Thanks for the info. I have requested a CoC from Kawasaki U.K. I also asked them if there is an officially approved can/exhaust system for my bike and their answer was... "We are not aware of such restrictions regarding the fitment of performance parts to machine in France and as such no optional parts are available from Kawasaki." Ummmm...
13. I think your not getting enough of something. Luckily there will be several hundred miles between us...
14.

I take on board all your comments and wouldn't want to upset anyone, but where is the line between being on a long holiday and becoming a resident? Neither of us will be working in France, so we could (or will be on) just for arguements sake a 5 year holiday!
Another chancer.  As discussed.  Looser that will again cause problems for the geniune individual that will obey the rules.  Sorry guys but I spotted him first. T****r that needs to be reported soonest.
Not sure what your problem is, but anyway being new to this I wanted to investigate all the possibilities before making a decision on what to do. I don't do anything illegal. P.S. There is only one 'o' in loser.
