  1. Hi nounours. The reason is quite simply, an on going, pre existing serious  medical condition. I hope that this will surfice?
  2. Although I’m not yet of pensionable age, another 18 months yet. I too have just received my letter and application form this morning. I am certainly not concerned at all, as it seems to be quite transparent.   Due to changes in EC regulations, from 1 May 2010 the United Kingdom, as the member state responsible for payments of your pension, will also then be responsible for issue of your EHIC instead of the member state where you are now living. Blaa Blaa Blaa Next Paragraph.   The EHIC will cover any medical treatment that becomes necessary during your trip because of either illness or an accident, or in relation to some pre-existing condition.
  3. Kathy F. Have you been to Sparkbrook, Sparkhill, and Small Heath in Birmingham, these three places alone are rife with the Burka, and from what friends inYorshire tell me Bradford is the same also in Leicester.
  4. Who said it's snowing? I have just taken another look out of the front window and low and behold :Its Gorn!! Someones bin an gorn and Nicked it Or could it be that big halogen light in the sky that has been switched on?
  5. I think that I could possibly go one better. I kept a fully loaded crossbow at the side of my bed as I suffered harassment by an extremely aggressive and arogant asian neighbour.I would certainly not have hesitated in using it in his particular case.
  6. Hi Again Clark. You are absolutely right. The Bournville Village Trust  is completely independant of Cadbury as was establish by the founder of Cadburys Dynasty.
  7. Hi Super man.Sorry Clark. You have omitted another great establishment that has gone the same way, only a stones throw from the Birds factory. In fact if the wind was in the right direction you would certainly smell it. Who or what am I talking about? The HP Sauce factory in Aston.
  8. It's doing the same here in the Deux Sevre. So it's not exclusive to your area.
  9. Trust you! A nice thought though. On the other matter I do concur. Another point is: How do they have their Passport photo's taken? As a pair of eye's or lift the veil and show a full frontal.
  10. Thanks Quillan, I shall just add my 0.1% to make it to the 100% of certanty, I thought the same but it's always better to have others opinions.
  11. What ever happened to the old addage,When in Rome do as the Romans do. They should be a complete ban on the BURKS wearing the Burka.
  12. Hi All.   I received some post from the UK, enclosed was a free post envelope, I am almost certain that this envelope is only valid within the UK any nowhere else. Can any one enlighten me on this subject?
  13. The Remark of a Cretin, N.H. are treated with the contempt they deserve.
  14. Hi Benjamin.   I certainly do not feel hounded at all, so don’t worry on that score.  Yes I do have emphysema and yes I certainly do get a 100% from CPAM , tihs is certainly not a boast but a fact that have never paid for a single item in the past. As I said in my last post to you, I spent 2 weeks in hospital in April / May last year. The cost of this for my bank was around 28€.  Then this year I again went and had an eye test and then into hospital for a short stay for the removal of a Cataract. In both instances I have paid no contribution and basing this on my previous stay in hospital this would be about 5-10€ cost for the bank. The total cost of the new pair of glasses is 364€ and the bank won’t pay any think like enough and CPAM will only pay roughly 12€ per lens. I have no idea what the cost on a new lens transplanted onto my right eye has costs. This is the main reason why I object to paying my bank over 625€ when in total the annual cost they actually paid was exactly 67€. Financially, I would be far better off, to the tune of 558€ and pay the 67€ out of my own pocket. This is the reason for me trying to cancel my contract with the bank as I made it quite clear to the individual on 4 occasions that I have a 100% cover from CPAM. So was miss sold this insurance. I have consulted my financial advisor on this matter and he did advise that I don’t need this cover, so WAS miss sold this insurance, so we are in full agreement, for once!!   And Thank you for your Good Wishes.
  15. Oi. Keep my Irish Jig outa this S-D.or I'll tell them about your wooden leg, Matey!!
  16. Hi Benjami. It's self inflicted so I have to face up to it, although I do always say that there are other people far worse than I am so you have to get on with life. I have lasted for ten years so fingers crossed, if I can make another five then I would be very happy with that. I did have a couple of weeks in hospital early last year because of my problem, they thought I had T-B and all sorts, finally they did sort it out. Must admit my stay was very enjoyable thanks to all the lovely nurses, the French female has a wonderful sense of humour they were wonderful. I did get a bill a few weeks later so sent off a cheque, a week later it was returned with a letter of appology because they didn't realise that I had 100% cover.
  17. Hi S-D. I do have an appointment for next thursday morning!
  18. Hi Benjamin. The dreaded smokers disease, no! not cancer, the other one!!

    Glasses

Four years ago, I waited six months for an eye test with an Opthalmologist as I was due for my two year check up. When I explained this to the Opthalmologist / Surgeon, he told me in perfect English, that he had worked in the UK at various hospitals and this practice by Opticians was completely unnecessary for the majority of people. After my own eye test he told me to return in two years time as my sight was still in good condition. So four years between eye tests for me is acceptable considering being in my  late (Very) 50s. This year I returned for another eye test when it was discovered that I was in the early stages of having a Cataract develop in my right eye, immediately I was booked in to have the operation done within the following week. Everything is now back to normality as far as sight is concerned. However the cost of replacement glasses is on a par with the UK prices, my prescription was for Varia-focal + (photochromatic) lenses + frames 360€, and I get a second pair of sun glasses for an extra 1€. Daft I know considering that I have the photochromatics in my first pair.
  20. I have a minimal top up insurance with the Credit Mutuel at monthly cost of 50€, for this the bank pays an average of just 2.5€-4.5€ per month, an annual average of 65€. This gives the bank a nice big profit, I have tried to cancel the contract but as our good friend S-D has pointed out to me, I signed the contract in house (the bank) so cannot break the contract until August. Now I may have been handed a get out of jail card, as I have not received my new, one of the two 6 monthly attestations for the first part of this year and have had to pay for my own medication, albeit 2.5€. I am wondering if I could use this as a breach of contract. I must  point out that I do get 100% from CPAM.
  21. Hi All. I know a guy who keeps a Spondon/Ducati 900, used only for track days, in his kitchen, (a big kitchen) and a 250 triple & 500 triple Kawasaki on display in the lounge.  He kept his everyday mount, a Ducati Passo 750 along side his 2 Alphas in the garage, while he also has his little Renault 4 parked on the drive.
  22. Hi Patrick. I used a similar type of connector, it's a crimp and shrink (heat-sealed), push in the wire, crimp it, then gently warm the insulation until it shrinks, which then makes it water tight. Job Done.
  23. Hi. I have found the best and safest way to extend cables is not with the "chocolate box" connector method, but with the correct sized shrink wrap connector, giving a completely safe and insulated joints as no core wires are exposed. I believe that the use of both the scotch-clip and chocy box connections were made illegal in the UK in the early 90s.
  24. I have a question to ask, and it is this. I have in the Cave, an “Atalya” Central Heating Boiler, which I imagine is possibly around 10 years old and is now proving to be very uneconomical, on the fuel supply side, despite having it serviced last year. So I have been contemplating changing the burner assembly as the boiler itself seems to be working perfectly. To change the burner assembly, the cost will be in the region of 400€ - 600€, + fitting. To me, this would be by far more sensible to change this single item rather than the whole unit, to do this is a false economy when everything else works OK. Your input would be very much appreciated on this aspect.
