  1. THE REASON I THOUGHT IT WAS A NEW LAW WAS BECAUSE SOMEONE RAN INTO US THE PREVIOUS YEAR AS WELL & WROTE IT OFF BUT BECAUSE WE WERENT CHANGING THE OWNER WE DIDN'T HAVE TO SORT IT OUT PS [ CAR WAS IN WIFES NAME, I'M TRYING TO GET IT IN MINE] ANYWAY IVE JUST RUNG THEM & THEY'RE GIVING US FREE PASSAGE FROM THE PORT TO TESTING STATION.  THEIR LOSS, BECAUSE IT WONT BE GETTING TAXED TILL  I COME & GET IT & GET THE TEST PASSED, COULD BE  JUNE.
  2. we recently got a taxi ride the 17km from chatelerault  train stn to our house,   35 EUROS , WHICH  IS ABOUT 2.3 EUROS PER KM.   2.30 CAME UP ON THE SCREEN WHEN HE ASKED US WHERE WE WERE GOING. I GUESS IT MAY HAVE BEEN LESS FOR A GREATER DISTANCE PER KM.
  3. were getting greaf off the dvla, who are withholding our log book, till we have it checked out after it was written off for minor things, we can neather tax it or sorn it, & it is now in france, apparently its a new money making law recently introduced , for cars writ6en off which are uneconomic to repair. ps the cars only done 45k miles.

  8. ive never seen the car park really full, in the field or the official parking place & have always managed to park, but i know what you mean. theres one car in particular ive seen which has never been moved in the 2 1/2 years ive been using it, its tax ran out in 2002 i think. what is the likely cost per week to park? anyone used a taxi? what is the likely cost for 30km ? cheers mike.
  9. mid summer last year i couldn't park my van on the field at this airport because of the height restriction of 2.0 m.good job because when i returned a couple of months later all the vehicules had been removed & the field ,tarmaced. when i went to park it there for the xmas holls for 2months i found the 2.0m barriers gone so parked there, i'm now worried about something i read about another airport, untaxed english cars being towed away. my tax ran out end of december, i'll be taxing it for feb when i fly out & use it, will it still be there ?
  10. i bought an aa headlamp pack in about 92 & have been using it ever since, ie cutting the covers out of sticky back plastic from examples from the pack.( my cars are that old) or shape them to the etch marks in the glass. ps the reason people dont use gb stickers is probably because there not proud to be british any more ! ( well, i'm not!)
  11. hi, what is it with mondays in dept 86, are they a national holliday day, my french neighbours work every hour & every day except mondays. by the way my bikes in uk so wont be coming on your ride, might bring it over though!

  15. hi, what's the best method of introducing antifreeze into the system, there is a red painted tank located above the oil boiler which looks like it could be filled if some of the water was drained 1st or is it best via a radiator, if so how? thanks.
  16. we were asking the very same question when i was there a few weeks ago.
  17. dear sunday driver, you answered some questions from a girl who was buying a yamaha majesty scooter 125cc in feb this year, she doesnt say where she bought it, my friend has one of these going cheap , i presume my wife could ride this on a car licence. what is the exact script on regeristing a uk bike? ps what about headlight ? pps whilst im on i might as well ask you about my uk reg 1991 honda nsr 250, it wasn't offically imported to britain & was an import, is this do'able as well? thanks

    bonfires

hi, whats the score on having bonfires in france ? ive heared they are restricted to certain times of the year, & to inform the pompiers . is this correct?
  19. the black fleshy part needs washing off & the seeds putting in sandy soil in trays over winter ,preferably in a cold frame , mainly to keep squirrils etc off them. i grew about 30 last year from seed, the 30 left outside were eaten.
  20. thanks for the info so far, i was thinking of getting a moped that both me & my wife could ride without all the hassle of insurance/ regeristing etc, almost like a push bike . she has only got a car licence. if we have to get insurance, can we both be on the same french policy & if it were a british reg is it easy to register & ct ?
  21. hi, i have a full uk bike licence & a 250cc bike i could bring over but can't be bothered with all the expence/ hassle as i only need to get to the shops & back. i have seen mopeds here without number plates & some with, can i assume no number plates mean you dont need insurance either.
