  1. French GPs are way behind those in the UK in their use of IT and, in the way they keep up to date, preferring text books (old) and conferring with colleagues to searching for evidence based information on biomedical databases.  Our GPs have regular postgrad education meetings and training and professional librarians and trainers to help them get to grips with the masses of information out there.  Not so in France.   Sue[;-)]
  2. Probably being very naive here, but does the same apply if you have a business registered in the UK but you can run it from France via internet etc ? Sue
  3. I am sure that the general public would vote for a return to the good old days of hanging, flogging and deportation Perhaps this (like charity) should begin at home [;-)]
  4. Traci,  I've sent a PM, hope you don't mind.   Suzy
  5. I don't think it's a question of liking the kids, Wen.  It's my money and my kids inheritance which is buying our French property, my partner's kids have no interest in it and are well provided for elsewhere.  We'd have liked to get married eventually, but won't because of the inheritance laws.   Suzy
  6. Thanks Cathy,  I take your point.  I guess we'll just have to sort it as best we can and go with the flow.  I must admit the dream won't be much of one if we're worrying about it all the time. We have a three year plan and learning all the time !!   Suzy
  7. Don't be sorry !  I'm really glad to have found this thread.  We have three years to get it sorted to as good as it gets.  Though obviously 6 years didn't make it happen for you.  I wonder whether we'll be able to afford to move after we've got all the legal advice !!!  Never mind, though I think as there are so many Brits moving to France, they should have a clause in your marriage vows which warns you of divorce and remarriage and having kids at all !!! Oh well - keep drinking the Ricard ! Suzy [B]
  8. hello all, sorry to drag this up again, but I've only just seen the post and it's depressed me no end !  My partner and I aren't married either. As the money with which we shall be buying in France is mine and his lovely children will not be expecting anything from that property we will stay as we are - simpler.  However, is it possible to buy the property in the names of my sons - and live there ? Would this avoid the problem of IHT when either of us died ? Or am I being a simple soul ?! Suzy
  9. Is anyone taking the equivalent of Nebivolol ?  I have to take this daily, but looking at the list of long term illnesses, it includes severe hypertension, but I wouldn't say mine was severe.  Any ideas ? Suzy
