I'm sure your information is correct Katie, but I wouldn't use Wikipedia as a reference source, as it's a Wiki anyone can edited it and put what they like ! Sorry, but like Judith, the librarian in me bursts out occasionally ! Sue -

This was one of the items of discussion on the Jeremy Vine show last week. Amazingly (to me) the responses were about 50/50. There were quite a few callers who came up with your suggestion WBB. It couldn't happen in France.............................could it ? Sue -
house prices in France
suzy replied to woolybananasbrother's topic in Finding/Owning French Property
Wooly I agree to a certain extent, but I think Brits in particular are obsessed with how much their property is worth. Unless you are moving on, it's only a figure in the air. What is more concerning is the pound's value against the euro, when you have a fixed income. S -

For those of us making the move in the next year or so, having sold here (UK) a buyers market is just what we need. Sue -

Hello all, I wonder if someone could give my OH some information about joining golf clubs in France. He is a keen player and I would expect most of his (not our) spare time would be spent playing golf. His French is OK and he is hoping to improve it by playing with French golfers. He would like to know if golf clubs are run in a similar way to those in the UK - eg joining/green fees/regular competitions/handicapping and social functions. We will be moving to the Gard next year. Many thanks, Sue

We have Navman which my OH uses all the time (much to my irritation, when we know the way !) However he now has it set to French, ready he says, for our move next year ! Sue

I like the idea of Cosmos, so this year I shall risk thunderbolts from heaven and not cut them back (sorry Dad !) Sue

My father used to cut his back to about 6 inches from the ground after flowering, this seems to help to produce plenty of flowers for the next year. Sue

I like a nice bit of Chaource, if I'm in a 'mild' mood, or Picadon if I'm feeling goaty, but Roquefort is definitely my favourite. Sue [;-)]

In the UK students would be asking advice of others via Facebook. Is there an equivalent or French version he could access ? Sue

We will be selling our house next year to move to our chosen area of France. If we have to take a lower asking price than we had hoped, so be it, we will have to rethink what we buy on the other side, but it won't stop us from moving, we will be downsizing anyway. With regard to property prices falling, in our area there has been a significant fall in the price of apartments which is due to far too many being built in the first place and buy to let owners getting out while the going is good, but good sized family houses with gardens near to good schools are still commanding premium prices. Sweet 17 How about my Mum's recipe called Cardinal's Cloak (so called because of the colours ) Put a thickish layer of raspberries (fresh, tinned or frozen) in the bottom of a glass dish, then top with mixture of greek yog and double cream, finally top with demarara sugar (about 1/4 inch thick) You can do it it individual glasses or a large glass dish. then leave at least 24 hours in the fridge until the sugar has melted. It looks very pretty with it's layers, tastes divine and with all that cream and sugar is quite fattening I guess ! Enjoy ! Sue

Sutton Coldfield actually Ron !!! we can't understand Brummies either !!! My query was posted because the OP hadn't said if she'd been successful, and I'm sure we're all hoping she has been. I had, in fact, read the whole (very confusing) thread.
