Just had a quote of 900 euros to replace my small old tank with a new 200 litre one .Does this quote sound any good?Also my fosse is really smelling ,not at the fosse but in the barn between bathroom and fosse.Put one of those activator bags down but any other ideas would be a help. Came up the n154 yesterday and all I saw was a new aire being installed south of Evreux.There is a board between Chartres and Dreux showing diagrams of some buildings but I think thats just the Z.I. on the other side of the road.

We are travelling overnight next fri/sat and will need to get fuel.Are the motorway petrol stations open all night with a kiosk or do they turn into 24/24's (carte bancaire) after a certain time ? Matt

I,m insured with HIFX ,there are no restrictions with regards occupancy ,they were very helpful and one of the cheepest quotes I had.They also do a very good international money transfer system whereby you can ring and fix your rate which is then valid for 2 years.

I dont know if you,ve noticed but they are bypassing Le Boullay Mivoye (after Dreux).You can see all the bridges are in just needs a road now ! Brian ,sorry to be nosey but what is an "Autoroute Doofer" Matt

Came through there beginning of April and can,t say I noticed anything.Am going down again at the end of this month so I will be sure and look out.I also did a google for the n154 and one site did mention it is being upgraded to motorway status but surely not just the short section from Rouen to Dreux ?I hoped they meant it was going to be upgraded right to Chartres and perhaps down to the A20.

This has probably been asked already ,but here goes.I am going out in June to rewire my house with an electrician friend. My question is ,what if anything do I need to get certified once we are finished? There is already supply to the house and some of the wiring  has been renewed (although not to rcd fuseboard),it is only the lights and a few power points like the 32a cooker point and extra points in the rooms. All within speed limits ,in fact a steady 70 on the motorway a lot of the time. The Tolls cost me 15.40 euros and although the route sites like michelin and Mappy say it is half hour longer than Paris ,it has nearly always been quicker because of the hold ups in Paris.Id be interested to see what the new tunnel at Versailles makes the Paris journey times when it opens.

Have you tried www.lapeyre.fr .They sell everything and are well priced.  The quality is very good as well.

Just looking through the Screwfix catalogue and they sell a "surface preparation disc" that ,to quote "removes paint,varnish rust and scale without damaging metal,wood,fibreglass granite brick or stone.non clog." Dont know if there any good but they do one with an arbor and one for a grinder. Matt

I travel from Boulogne to Vierzon and find the A28 to Rouen the best and quickest way.I also turn off before Rouen to the airport (also signed Pont de l'Arche) ,I then pick up the N154 which is a fantastic road. It is autoroute standard to Dreux ,between Dreux and Chartres is mostly dual carriageway then a short hop after Chartres an you're back on the A10 .I do Boulogne to my house just west of Vierzon in under 5 hrs.

Nick Is it OK then to insulate and board straight under the tiles.They are clay tiles hung on tile battens and as far as I know there are no leaks.My concern was if the wind were to blow any rain under the tiles it would cause damp inside.Also ,would I use straight forward rockwool insulation or cellatex sheets? Thanks also for the advice on the spray on stuff as I must confess I was curious about it.

Did you have felt under your tiles or could you see directly onto your tiles and the odd bit off daylight at certain angles?

The roof on my house is in reasonably good repair other than a broken,but supported beam. I want to convert the loft space into a room so my question is ,do I need to strip the roof in order to waterproof (ie:felt ) the roof or is there a product or way that would enable me to convert the the loft without stripping the tiles. Have just bought a house in the northern Cher and would like a quote for re-roofing the building. Does anybody know of any reputable roofers in the area. Also require a plumber to fit new hot water tank.     Thanks in advance                  Matt
