1.
Nice Strat, Paul. Same colour as my first original 60s job, rosewood neck and all. Wish I still had it! Bought an early 70s re-issue about 8 years ago. These days I'm down to an Echo jumbo, an original Hayman 1010 (which of course was used by Hank in the early 70s), a Les Paul Gibson and still trying to find the time (and money!) to rebuild a very rare beast indeed: a very early 60s Burns sunburst jazz guitar, similar to Gibson et al, semi-accoustic, double cutaway, twin humbuckers. It is not even listed on the Burns site! Needs a new neck and a re-chrome and will eventually be completely re-built and re-finished. On books, I still have my late 1940s copy of Eric Kirshaw's "Chords for danceband guitar": great if you have thin hands with digits about five inches long! The inside shapes taught me lots, though There does seem to be quite a lot of musicians in France!
Thanks and it plays like a dream . Back in the '60's my brother had a Burns Duo Sonic and I err managed to errmm snap the neck off it [:$] so he glued it back with Araldite and it was better than before I broke it LOL
 2.
. Will omit the yuk green stuff smelling of mint and vinegar that Brits eat with it...
Noooooo mint sauce is one of my most favourite things on the planet I have it on any roast dinner [:D] or a nice big Yorkshire filled with minced beef and onions, mashed potato and peas with lashings of. mint sauce and onion gravy MMmmmmmmmm
 3.
Has anyone ever had an Indian meal over here and was it in any way palatable?
Had a decent Indian meal in Paris a few years ago....... was different to English Indian though LOL
 4.
I saw a picture on the internet of an andouillette and it looked like a dismemembered body part ! That was enough to put me off. I do like black pudding but haven't found a french version I really enjoy yet.
That's because it is!! [+o(][+o(][+o(]   The last time I had black pudding was in a mixed grill at a restaurant in Bristol and it was vile ... full of gristle... yuck!!  not like the stuff we used to get up North [;-)]
 5.
My wife's school won't allow children to bring in sweets or cakes on their birthdays to share with the class because it is a 'healthy eating school'.  That just puzzles parents... Also see this story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/5039954.stm
The worlds gone mad I tell ya [:-))]   This could fit here or in the GBF thread....     McDonalds  [8-)]   how did a nation that is supposedly so proud of their food and cooking get overun with MaccyD's, I was really shocked at the speed and spread of  them in France .... oh that's right they market to children [;-)]
 6.
No-one makes a pie like the British.  In fact, does anyone else make pies? Phil
True very true [;-)][:)] Yes I was given some pork pie at a French car meet at the weekend... and not by an english person ...it was OK but not as good as ours LOL with regards steak and kidney type plate pies ... I have never found them outside UK but I hate this recent obsession with meat in a dish with a puff pastry lid (or airbag as me and my mate call them[;-)]) a pie should have proper shortcrust pastry on the bottom and sides as well [:)] fish and chips anybody???? with mushy peas of course LOL   TBH I have had good ,bad and indifferent meals all over Europe, good British food can be as good as  good French or Italian  and bad French or Italian can be  awful... funny thing is some of the best pizzas I have had have been in France[8-)]   Then of course there is "Indian" food ...well it's more British than Indian these days [:-))]
 7. Ah well we all know how easy it is to slip over the limit esp. when driving a UK car with the KPH speeds this big in blue on black and I do not believe anyone who says they never exceed the speed limit ....sorry[:-))] Who said I only use it in France [;-)][:D] there are also huge things called trucks that unfortunatley block the view of roadsigns at times esp. the camera ones as they are pretty low LOL anyway the gendarme seemed very happy with it [;-)][:D]

 11. But surely you will only pay CGT on the difference between what you paid for the property and what you sell it for i.e. the gain
 12. Who still has their copy of Bert's self-tutor and chord reference?
Errrrrr I have [:D] Bert Weedons " Play In A Day" although the guy that runs my local guitar emporium ( too posh to be called a shop [:-))]) reckons he should be sued by everyone that bought it LOL  got a rather nice American Standard Fender Strat in Fiesta Red ( very Hank)for my birthday yesterday [8-|]
 14. Ah saw Lonnie at a Cropredy festival a few years ago [8-|] And have bumped into ................... Bert Weedon a couple of times in recent years once at a music fair at the NEC and once outside a Fairports gig in High Wycombe when the band were outside having a ciggie  and he and they  started discussing my Beatles T shirt with me LOL
 15.
. Dreux is a pain, Alcazar
Ain't it just [:-))] All those damn roundabouts [:(] Went through there on Saturday and back on Monday a great journey down to St,Amand Montrond apart from that section. off the ferry at LeHavre 9am arrived St A-M at 2pm with an hour stop at the aire near Orleans mainly due to one of our party having his front numberplate on his dashboard which got him a 100euro fine in the aire [:-))] (luckily I'd told him to have his V5 with him otherwise they were going to impound the car [:-))]) the gendarme looked at the Inforad on my dash and I thought oh-oh [:'(] but he stuck up his thumbs and said " Inforad is good !" and smiled [:D] phew!!! LOL
 16.
Our postmistress is charming and very helpful.
We have only used the P.O. in Huelgoat twice , both times for parcels to a French friend, but never much of a queue and she is always helpful and pleasant....... unlike our P.O. in Surrey where the queue is nearly always out of the door and "some" of the staff are downright rude [:(]
 17.

Bill Are you sure that the connection between the two batteries doesn't have a wire that drives something at 6volts. Just wondering why someone would have fitted two six volt batteries in place of a twelve volt one.
Check, but that isn't likely - not good design! Why 2 batteries? Depends on the age of the vehicle - until recently, large capacity batteries were also physically large. Nowadays, a single 12V battery is smaller than a 6V one with the same capacity.... Remember the early MGB's? No, I don't either. Too young. Honest.
I had a 1974 BGT and that had 2 x 6volt batteries under the back seat whereas my 1963 and 1964 Alpines both had a 12volt battery under the back seat, my 1968 MG Midget had a 12volt at the back of the engine bay .. never did figure out why the MGB's were like that LOL[8-)]
 18. [:$]sorry for the duplicates the forum seems to be playing silly B's[:$]

 21.
Don't forget that French Fries and French Toast are now banned in the U.S.  They must be called Freedom Fries and Freedom Toast! PG
Now that is sad in fact it's pathetic [:(]
 22. Have a look at this thread   http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/1/683632/ShowPost.aspx#683632   Someone has got a CT with converters but it would appear they shouldn't have and a friend of mine that took his car to Confolens from UK had to source LHD headlamps for his CT[;-)]
 23. A bit O/T but can I ask what it is you don't like about Cyprus??? I have never been there but my brother has lived there (Limassol) for years and loves it , from what I have seen (albeit from here) it looks a bit errr like the sort of  "holiday"  places I can't stand and very hot and dry , again not my cup of tea but it suits some people... maybe it was seeing one of those TV programmes about Aya Napa that put me off [:-))]
 24.
How are the mighty fallen? yesterday 10 right today 4
Snap [:$]  down from 8 to 4 [:(] it was a wee bit trickier today, I knew I should have listened more in history lessons [:-))]
 25.
I dutifully but grudgingly shell out £6 to Halfords each time I go over so the idea of headlamp protectors that I could clip on with the converters in place sounds like a sensible £40 investment! Can you get them for all types of car? Do I need to ask at my Toyota garage?
Try eBay [;-)]   I tried to get some for the Scenic but they don't do they for the new model [:(] I've got some for my next car already as I saw them for sale and grabbed them there and then [:-))]
