  2. I think that you will find that they are the same thing! Hoverfrog. maureen.
  3. Hallo Hoverfrog. I have just received the spring edition of Siddalls ( financial advisers) magazine. They have offices at Bordeaux and the 56,84 and 83 regions. Inside is a very comprehensive article entitled "2006 Income Tax return and Budget Update", telling you all about the various forms and how to calculate your tax payments. You may find the same article on their site  http:// www.siddalls.net    otherwise you can subscribe to their mag. on line. If you would like to post your own 'location' on this site perhaps a forum member could point you in the direction of your local Hôtel des Impots! maureen.
  4. Not all of us need English speaking assistants...some of us can speak french. You will find that there IS information in my posting if you bother to read it and stop getting overheated. Or perhaps you don't like hearing comments from women, new ones to the forum at that. What happened to freedom of speech? maureen.
  5. Oh, come on you guys.....cool it. I suggest that the person learns french then he/they will be saved from all this hassle! I have assisted and helped endless people sign draft and full contracts, and have never had any trouble. The Notaire speaks clearly, and stops frequently in his discours to make sure that everybody understands. If not, pains are taken to explain things before moving on. This happens whether the buyers/sellers are French or British. If you are worried about your capabilities in understanding take along a friend who can understand and explain things to you. Your Notaire will not have a problem with you stopping him and asking to explain. They get paid enough!!! maureen.
  6. Ops, sorry didn't mean to rattle your cage - but having plowed through three pages of rather uninformed, incorrect answers it seemed VERY much like beefing to me! You, "we", will have to fill in your form like the rest of the population of France, when you, "we" receive it! Remembering to send it back by the said date otherwise you will have to pay an extra 10%. You have made the  filling in of  this form into an enormous task for the newcomers, which is not the case. There is an address at the top of your form where you can go, locally, to get help filling in the form, or, you can go to your Mairie where the Secretary will guide you also. Having done it for nearly 30 years now, I think you should agree that I know what I am talking about! maureen.
  7. Just fill it in all of you and stop beefing!!! This year the form will not be sent out UNTIL MAY! French tax isn't as bad as all that and this years form will reflect your income for 2005. If you are not hiding anything then you've nothing to worry about. Declare it and get it over and done with - you know it makes sense! maureen.
  8. Please help!! S.O.S. Chats Libres has been asked by a french lady to help with the search for her lost cat. The cat, male, has a very distinguishing "mark" as he was recently operated on for a "chat cryptorchide" which means an undescened testicle and he could still be showing the signs by a shaved area. He is a dark tabby grey with a beige tummy area, tatooed, last seen 25.February at Villeneuve sur Lot. He answers to the name of Romeo. If you can give us any information, please e-mail me, or [email protected] Thank you. Maureen.
  9. Good question Gay.At the moment, in the area of the Dordogne there is no restriction to keep cats confined - fingers crossed it stays that way. There is no way we can possibly round them all up. I suppose that they will just have to take their chance with the hundreds of other birds and animals it MAY effect. maureen.
  10. How right you both are - the world has gone mad..... Yes, the SPA stated on T.V. this week that the amount of cats being handed in has gone up by 40%. But this was in Lyon, I have not heard anything about the South West.Excuse me, must rush off to buy a nice fat, yellow poulet fermier....... maureen.
  11. By the way, a bell on a cat is not much good if the bird is dead...It is to stop the cats eating dead  (infected) birds that they have to be kept in!!! maureen.
  12. In the department of the AIN where the original dead infected birds were found, your cat must now be "confined". Dogs when out walking must be on a lead. It  was announced on French T.V. a few days ago. It does not affect other departments yet. maureen.

    dog food

Hi, been here nearly 30 years and have never seen or heard of your dog food. Don't worry there is a wide variety of food here, we have moved on from the dark ages when dogs were fed the scraps off the table! maureen.
  14. Frontline used to drive my dog to distraction - she scratched herself bald with it. I found that the cheapest of pipettes from LeClerc were the most effective - and she still had her coat after!!! maureen.
  15. Thank you, Christine. We feel that we are doing a worth while job, so your comments spur us on. P.S. tell your friends...... maureen.
  16. There exists in the Dordogne, a problem of over proliferation of wild cats. The SPA are planning to cut the number of wild cats, but S.O.S. Chats Libres have already been doing it for some years. The Association is run  entirely  by voluntary workers who go out every day to catch, sterilise and then return these cats to their natural habitat. The cats are fed daily, again by volunteers, and checked upon for their wellbeing. Food is obtained by food collection at supermarkets, money raised at car boot sales and other fund raising projects. We have kittens and older cats, usually sterilised, who are looking for loving homes. The cats are sterilised by Veterinary surgeons who have agreed to give the Association a special price. If you can help us in any way, catching, feeding, joining the Association or sending a donation, we would of course be delighted to hear from you. You can see our website on  http:// www.soschatslibres.com Thank you.
  17. There exists in Vergt, Dordogne an association of voluntary workers who take into their home, The Phoenix Refuge, cats, dogs and horses. The aim of the owners, Sheelagh & Richard is to find these animals new and loving homes. If you are looking for a pet, please look at our website where you will find a list of adoptions and the work we do. If, of course you would like to send us a donation, this will be most gratefully accepted. See us on http://www.phoenixasso.com e-mail [email protected] tel. 05.53.54.94.81. Thank you.
