  2. After adding channels, as long as they are in favourites, just press TV guide then blue button to see your list.
  3. 101 has to stay i'm afraid, but you can add whatever regional channels you like by going to services/favourites/add from the lists.
  4. Hi guys Being a techie (nerd if you prefer) I was involved with one of the first companies to market the Internet to the masses back in 1990. We marketed Email as a communication medium with very important advantages over normal mail and over telephone calls. One of the advantages of the message systems over letter mail was that, in an email message, one could write tersely and type imperfectly, even to an older person in a superior position and even to a person you did not know very well, and the recipient took no offence. The formality and perfection that most people expect in a typed letter did not become associated with email messages, probably because the internet was so much faster, so much more like the telephone. How thing have changed[:)] Andy
  5. Having disabled automated email on my profile earlier today, i'm still receiving them in my email account, why? Andy
  6. Hi guys Having received some useful information elsewhere on the forum ref my sport of motor racing course de cote (speed hillclimb) I thought I might put my thoughts here. I competed in the UK for five years in the ASWMC championship before moving to the Dordogne this year. My best result was 15th out of 132 in the 2005 championship, as I didn't start motor racing until I was 50 not too shabby really.[:$] Next year I shall return to the UK for some events but hope to compete here in a dozen or so climbs. Here's the rub, in the UK the sport is fantastically friendly, fixing each others cars, lending kit etc and plenty of banter. France however is I'm sure just as friendly but my French is poor and my mechanical skills, well lets say fair.[Www] I would love to share the experience with a like minded soul, even a shared drive if they have the necessary licence. (My OH and boys love the sport BTW). No special requirements needed just fair french (better than mine hopefully), willingness to get hands dirty (occasionally) and a love of motor racing. What have I got? well I have a motorhome for towing, all the necessary bits and tools and obviously the car. The race car is a highly modified and powerful (240bhp) Peugeot 205 gti and frightens me to bits, but what a buzz.[:-))] Any takers? please dont think I'm a professional my motto is: 'catastrophic loss of talent at the crucial moment'[:-))] Sportivement Andy
  7. This is great news, I have read the regs. However from another source I understand that a lot of clubs cannot afford the extra cost involved for insurance for visiters as it is quite expensive. French licence holders have insurance built in. This is the reason I wish to contact the various regional associations to see how many will let me run in the numerous course de cotes across the country. If a climb is near a border ie in Brittany they tend to be set up for visitors and invite guests as so called 'demonstrators'. I really hope i'm wrong as I want to do at least a dozen events here next year. Andy
  8. Thanks cooperola, however as I return to dear old blighty to compete in in a hillclimb championship every year, I cannot have a french licence whilst holding a National UK licence. However I can guest at quite a few French events on my UK licence, I'm looking for more 'demonstration' events hence email question. Rediculous situation don't you think as were supposed to be in the EU! Andy[8-)]
  9. Our maison built in 1986 ,to a high standard I may add, has a good supply of sockets to all rooms. In most rooms just below ceiling height there are blanking plates concealing wires and connectors. Question: can this wiring be used for wall lights, extra sockets etc there seem to be connectors available? As you can see I'm no electrician, whats confusing me is why they are all at ceiling height? Andy[8-)]

  11. Thanks Tony, they have sheets at Brico Depot, called verre synthetique but no one there could confirm it was polycarbonate. I'm not sure but I think it may be perspex. For me it has to be polycarb as it's for my race car side and rear windows, if I roll the car I don't want shards of perspex flying around! Andy
  12. A long shot I know, but I need a sheet (min 1250x2050) 4mm polycarbonate, trade names makrolon. lexon, etc I'm twixt Perigeaux and Bergerac but any ideas gratefully received Cheers Andy
